    Kevin Coyne

been introduced to him this year, was given Marjory Razorblade. hearing the opening track I thought "hmmmm" but it was a great album. Only last week was given The adventures of crazy frank & Dynamite Daze, not properly listened to those yet.
around the same time as marjory razorblade I listened to Daniel Johnsten and was impressed also....slightly similar

    Paul Westerberg
I totally agree with you. Paul Westerberg is one of the best lyricists I've ever heard. The Mats' were indeed a great band and the shows I got to experience live were second to none. Definitely one of the bands I still miss even today. However, I've made it a point to catch Paul Westerberg whenever he's in the Los Angeles area.

  • Another great songwriter missing from most of these lists....Elvis Costello.

Elvis Costello is a brilliant lyricist....dude was really pissed off on his first handful of albums....some of the most interesting, intelligent, satirical and seething lyrics ever laid down in a studio. I love the guy. Even on his last album....Delivery Man is a great lyrical song.

Westerberg is God.....I saw him last year in San Francisco and Denver. He's unbelievable.

Nice to see Country music included. Dolly Parton one of the greats. And I will prolly catch slack for this but Taylor Swift has to be on the list.
