Ticketmaster vs. FanClub: The Choice is Yours.

or, rather, the choice is mine. It's a difficult decision I'm faced with this time around. I'll be attended at least one of the MSG shows, as will many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many other fan club members. The last time they played MSG, in '03, I utilized the 10club for tix and ended up sitting somewhere in the stratosphere among mountain goats. the shows were incredible, but i was amazed at just how far away I ended up. I found out later that there were something like 8,000 10club members in attendance at both those shows. of course, many were long-standing members who have made a habit out of traveling across the globe to see this band, and all of those fans seemed to have had seats in front of mine. No grips, no pissiness on my part ... i understand my place in the pecking order, even though I feel that 8 years in the 10club is pretty decent. But that amounts to shit when the entire fan club flocks to your hometown show. again, it's cool, I dont mind ... dont flame me.

so here's the dilemma. get 10club tix and hope for the best. OR, ticketmaster and hope for the best.

I'll have to decide swiftly, by Wednesday at 9am or 12pm or whatever. when do tix go on sale here in the east, anyway?

The fan club allotment will more than likely be much better than anything you'd see on TM. the non fan club tickets that are any good (if there are any) will not be made available to the public.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

    depends on the venue.

for camden i always go with fanclub cause the venue has a slant so no matter where u are u will see something.

my pittsburgh experience on the other hand, i was back i think in triple ZZZ on the floor and couldn't see a thing.

With the "lottery" this becomes even harder doesn't it? Almost encourages people to try and get my 10c tix and ticketmaster and make a showtime decision...how do you not take that shot you're gonna be right upfront

Also, do you think a single ticket (I'll probably end up going by myself anyways) on TM would give me a better spot than a pair through the 10C? My number is 390 something, so I have no idea. I've never bought tickets through the 10C, much less been to a PJ show at all...

would you mind sharing approximately what your 10C number is, if you don't mind of course? :)

I'm 407xxx and just decided I'm going through ticketbastard. I think it'll get me better seats then what my number can, especially since it looks like a lot of fucking people are going, and all have better numbers than I do, unfortunately.

not only that, but i plan on bringing more than 1 person with me. I just hope I don't get shut out of the TM sale.

    Do both.

Keep the better pair of tix, and sell the others to friends.

That's what I did back on 03. Worked out well.

while i have no illusions about where a 131XXX number would end up receiving 10C tickets given the demand, i think i'd MUCH prefer to be in the wings as close to the stage as possible rather than the back of the floor at MSG hehe :)

thanks for your help, by the way,...

  • just remember, your chances of actualy GETTING a ticket are much better with 10c than Ticketmaster.

If you want to risk getting shut out on tickets by NOT going for the 10C sale and waiting for the TM general public sale,

just know that you could end up in the 400s or shit out of luck.

That being said, like others have mentioned, if your number is over 200K and you are looking for tickets to the most popular venues (MSG being probably the top of that list, then maybe Boston) ... you are going to be 20+ rows back, or "in the stratosphere".

    :D

I know with my just under 100k number, i was rows 12 and 13 for MSG in 2003.
Just to give you guys a feel for how popular that place is.

    :D
    and i had no complaints,
except for the control freak a-hole girls 4 seats down constantly trying to yell at my friend and i for smoking up ... STFU and mind your own business meanies.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand

  • I'm going to try for fan club for both and then when they go on ticketmaster try to get a single for the second show

When I went to the Denver 06 shows it seemed liked 10C and ticketmaster seats were mixed together. There was some guy who was sitting in front of me (i am 203xxx) who bought his tickets on Ticket Master.

I was baffled as to how he was sitting in front of me.

tom petty screwed with the 10C for those shows.

in milwaukee my friends scalped 15th row tickets for $140 a piece. my $100 10c tix were probably 70 rows back.

They fucked up, that's what happened. This was for Chicago, night 1, I get to the window & they don't have shit. They finally contact Kerensa & I ended up getting some shitty ass seats in the boonies (not even in the FC section.) At least I got in the building though, the 2nd night the same fucking thing happened. This time they couldn't get in touch with ANYONE at TC & I got royally fucked with no tix & didn't get to see the show. (I didn't have enough cash on me to see if there was anything at the window...as I wasn't planning on having to purchase tix.)They were the only 2 shows I was able to go to that tour too. I almost canceled my membership I was so pissed. (Of course now I'm glad I didn't as I woulda only hurt myself.) lol.

    *Deep breath*

This time will go as smooth as previous years I'm hoping. :)
