I really love RUSH too but they've doubled the 15 year thread here. Besides I saw their best show ever last month and I've seen every tour except one since g under p.

I can't really get into the Hold Steady. There are so many good bands out these days. I don't think I could pick the best.

Can you recommend something by The Hold Steady for me? Maybe I chose the wrong songs.

Wow, can't say I've heard someone say that before. I dunno, to me there's a huge jump between Undertow and Aenima, and then subsequent smaller jumps from then on. To me, there is nothing on Opiate that sounds even remotely like anything on 10,000 Days.

obviously you've never read my posts ;) every tool song i've ever heard sounds exactly like every other tool song i've ever heard.

hold steady are amazing, but i don't know if i'd say best of the last 15 years.

flaming lips kick ass but way exceed the 15 year mark.

i can see wilco and modest mouse though. even radiohead, though i dislike the hype around them.

fav hold steady songs for tek:
    killer parties
    how a resurrection really feels
    certain songs
    southtown girls
    party pit

I'll look into them. I haven't bought many albums for ages. I learn more about new music on here nowadays.

...I don't get what your asking. Do you mean new bands that have STARTED in the last fifteen years? In which case my answer is the same. Queens Of The Stoneage. :)

    Wow. That sounded sarcastic! :D

I'm going back in time. Most of my favourite bands/singers are getting older and older. Punk, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, etc.

The newest bands I like are The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, SOAD, Scissor Sistors (I'll say in a whisper) and I still think QOTSA are the best. Maybe Foo fighters.

I think that only QOTSA are a groundbreaking band.

    SPARTA.

I thought there'd never be another Blind Melon or Pearl Jam for me...until they came along & totally renewed my faith in the possibility of "new" music being able to have that sort of depth. Easily the best thing since the 90's. :)

I saw The Slip a couple months ago...it had been awhile, and I had honestly forgotten just how good they were...

The bass player started this incredible solo that turned from him playing bass into him playing electric lead guitar, while still on the bass...meanwhile the guitar player went from lead guitar to playing the bass on his guitar...kinda hard to describe...but...I have witnessed a lot of special moments in my day but I will never forget that one, ever. Completely blew my mind wide open.

    Great band!!!
