STP no show tonight

STP played Atlanta last night. They were OK. Not great, not terrible. Some good moments and some pretty rough ones. I can see why they're not really known as a live band, although they can cut it live - they just didn't really do that much for me. I could've burned a CD of the songs they played and just turned it up really loud, it would've been about the same for me. Weiland seemed like he was talking to himself half the time.
"Interstate Love Song" is one of the ten best non-PJ tunes to come out of the 90s, however. They played their hits, a few things I didn't really know, and I'd say they were done in about an hour and 45 min.0 -

So glad that I get to see them at the House of Blues in a couple of weeks. That band is surely the hardest working, nose to the ground, non-fucking-stop touring band EVER.
And if a band member fucks up (like say...their drummer), they just replace him with a completely competent chick and roll on.
Im not sure how I feel about a chick being in the band.Alpine Valley 2000

I just typed in "Stone Temple Pilots" into Google and then hit enter. The first page listed is their official page.. obviously. There are a bunch of links listed below the site.. Tour, News, Line Up, etc.
The funny thing is that there is also a link that says "Worst Show Ever". I clicked on it and it takes you to a thread in their message board in which everyone is complaining that the 5/31 show at PNC in Jersey is the worst show they've ever seen... thanks to Scott's inebriated state.
It kind of seems as though the rest of the band is acknowledging that, thanks to Scott, they suck live now. Or whoever is running the website has a grudge against the band. Why would they showcase that link on the main Google page?
edit: and check this link out: http://www.foundrymusic.com/media/displaymedia.cfm/id/18262/
It gives insight on what went on backstage at that showWhoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.0 -
Granted the dudes a f*ck up but lay off a bit.
STP is on a "65" date tour this summer. I'm amazed they even attempted it. I'd say missing 1 out of 65 is actually pretty damn good for Scott. Who else is playing that many dates this summer?
Also, this band was amazing live back in 94-99 and they were known as a great live band. I think now the show is over though. Kind of hoping they don't put out a new record...sadly“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0 -
I just took a look at stonetemplepilots.com and saw some pretty harsh comments on the Atlanta show...stuff about Weiland "obviously" being strung out and tension between the band members. Nothing I could pick up on from my seats, but very interesting.0

This guy missing any shows is unacceptable at this point. Being that they just got back together, maybe they shouldnt have been so greedy with booking so many shows. Maybe they shouldve started out with 12-15 dates.
The fact that nobody was informed of his whereabouts, and they played a show (the night before?)...he fucked up probably. It is pathetic to do this to their fans. I feel so bad for the people who traveled and spent money hoping to be entertained.
It really sucks becasue i love STP and i saw them really rock-the-fuck out three times back around 2000...oh well, throw in the towel, I say.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

He may have missed 1 show physically, but he has been mentally absent at a bunch of shows.
No excuses for that lame-ass junkie.0 -

I saw Dokken on Saturday, and he admitted he felt ill, yet he still did the same listless set that he always does!...no sore throat would prevent him from taking us back to 1986!
Poison was great fun...a great summer tradition!0 -

I had fun at his last show at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla...Was front row right in front of Dean and had a blast!!!
Glad I went especially if that is the last time we ever see SW...Conversations getting dull
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
