My friend just called me from the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa. Apparently STP didn't actually make it to the stage tonight. He sat through BRMC, they set up STP's shit, but they never came out. I guess around 10 they finally told everyone to go home.

Weiland finally od? or weather related?
    "It's all happening"
  • We were there. No excuse good enough. The radio station said Weiland was not there. They did not have details, but it was him that screwed it up, surprise surprise. There were not any weather issues. We saw them Wednesday in Hollywood Florida, and the rest of the band made it to Tampa, as did we.

Got this off the STP message board at below empty:

"after 2 hours of delays and after SEEING Dean, Rob, and Eric, security came out and said STP would not be playing. Apparently they said the band wasn't even in town and there was no mention of a reschedule, etc."

This doesn't sound good, knowing Scott's past.
    "It's all happening"
  • I missed what security said, but if security said 'band' then security was lying. They were there, Scott wasn't

There's a statement on the Official STP site that says it was due to the weather. But the fans on the message board who were at the show, are still saying The opening band played for 90 minutes, stp's merch was all there for sale, STP's equipment was all set up on the stage. And they even saw the rest of the band there. Sounds like their covering for Scott bigtime! Either got arrested, or OD'd, or was too intoxicated to perform.

They're not going to tell us what REALLY happened. But I do know for a fact that it wasn't an OD.

I do know that Scott was NOT at the arena. The radio station here in Tampa released that. And I do know that the rest of the band was there. People in the audience saw them before the show was canceled.

It sucks. But at least we are getting a refund on our tickets.

its STP... what do you expect... its the musical equivalent of going to see Muhammed Ali doing a tightrope walk...
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

After reading this I'm done giving this guy any more money. I have all the STP albums and have seen them 3 times so far (once this tour) but enough is enough. I'm not buying a ticket and showing up to a show being nervous if the band will even come out to play. I don't even know if I'll give their album a listen if they release a new one.

Look at the bright side, you saw a kickass opening band. STP should be opening for BRMC.

Teaming up with Weiland is career suicide...How has this guy ever got any kind of job in his life? What an unreliable piece of shit, I still hope he's alright, I wish the man no harm...but he's a half-assed, sorry excuse for a showman...

What he is dealing with is millions of dollars and (used to be) an idol to some. Someone that has had too many chances to clean up by now should have.

    STP stinks anyway.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

    Holla.

So glad that I get to see them at the House of Blues in a couple of weeks. That band is surely the hardest working, nose to the ground, non-fucking-stop touring band EVER.

And if a band member fucks up (like say...their drummer), they just replace him with a completely competent chick and roll on.

STP played Atlanta last night. They were OK. Not great, not terrible. Some good moments and some pretty rough ones. I can see why they're not really known as a live band, although they can cut it live - they just didn't really do that much for me. I could've burned a CD of the songs they played and just turned it up really loud, it would've been about the same for me. Weiland seemed like he was talking to himself half the time.

"Interstate Love Song" is one of the ten best non-PJ tunes to come out of the 90s, however. They played their hits, a few things I didn't really know, and I'd say they were done in about an hour and 45 min.

Honestly, it's no different than when Nick was there.

Except that now you know that the band's on the same sheet of music. Literally.

I just typed in "Stone Temple Pilots" into Google and then hit enter. The first page listed is their official page.. obviously. There are a bunch of links listed below the site.. Tour, News, Line Up, etc.

The funny thing is that there is also a link that says "Worst Show Ever". I clicked on it and it takes you to a thread in their message board in which everyone is complaining that the 5/31 show at PNC in Jersey is the worst show they've ever seen... thanks to Scott's inebriated state.

It kind of seems as though the rest of the band is acknowledging that, thanks to Scott, they suck live now. Or whoever is running the website has a grudge against the band. Why would they showcase that link on the main Google page?

edit: and check this link out: http://www.foundrymusic.com/media/displaymedia.cfm/id/18262/
It gives insight on what went on backstage at that show

Granted the dudes a f*ck up but lay off a bit.

STP is on a "65" date tour this summer. I'm amazed they even attempted it. I'd say missing 1 out of 65 is actually pretty damn good for Scott. Who else is playing that many dates this summer?

Also, this band was amazing live back in 94-99 and they were known as a great live band. I think now the show is over though. Kind of hoping they don't put out a new record...sadly
