Went into this album expecting nothing, and it is really a fantastic album. You can hear Eno's influence all over the place.

Snooze fest= A world wide festival where people gather and eat sleeping people. Bringing power to the quote if you snooze you lose. Sounds like it's even better than I expected..I love concept albums..

Try and make it Chris Martin!!

Kidding on, i actually dont hate Coldplay, some of their earlier stuff is pretty good i think. The one in that advert is so cheesy its upsetting though.

They said they would notify people by today (June 5) but the people i know that did get lucky got the email on June 3.

I do not believe they sent one out if you did not get the tix.

So, has anyone else heard the album? I think it is fantastic.

I thought it was completely bland and boring... there were build ups in songs that just lead no where (cannot give specific examples... I know the last song was like that), but I had a not so good quality of the album, so I'll give it another listen when I get better quality... but first impressions were not at all good.
If I could, think I would give in.

I have not listened yet but will be getting it the day it's released. I love Coldplay, and I don't care what the haters say. They are a great live band, btw.

I like the album a lot. In case anyone is interested, the hidden track in the middle of the album ( at the end of 'Yes' @4 min. 4sec.) is called 'Chinese Sleep Chant. It's great, sounds like My Bloody Valentine, and one wouldn't have guessed it was Chris Martin singing.

I like that they took chances with different sounds sounds.

Cemeteries of London, Yes, Lost!, and Strawberry Swing are certainly the standouts, IMO.

I got it today and I guess the verdict is still out for me. Lost! is great.. never heard martin sing so low.. pretty impressive..

Some of the songs seem kind of scattered...kind of free formed..alot of the tracks have enough musical ideas to make up another 10 good songs.

My first impression of the album is that it is loaded with descent to good songs; each having GREAT moments.

And their quest to become the next U2 (to include using a producer who's produced some of U2's finest work) continues.

    Albeit in vain, it continues.

Are you sure that is not what you think their quest is? Maybe I'll change your quote around:

"My quest and the media's quest to make people think their quest is to become the next U2 continues."

If they're trying to sound like anyone on this album it's radiohead. I'm likeing it more and more...some of the songs are still losing me though

ive listened to a few on youtube, trying to resist the temptation beyond that

strawberry swing, cemetaries of london, and 42 were all good, but i only allowed myself to listen superficially

if the first two are any indication, there are some very new and interesting sounds incorporated this time around-both are much more interesting rhythmically and the first one uses a fairly strange sounding guitar for a while, very cool

I got it last night. Listened to it 2 times all the way through, back to back, and I do like the album. The thing about Coldplay is each album seems to be a departure from the previous one. This one sounds like it has alot more Radiohead influence to it, and of course U2 (but we knew that anyway). Anyway, the first track is a good intro (and it IS suppose to sound that way for those who know what I'm talking about). My immediate favorite track is number 42. It's shows off the band very well, and I like the jam part in the middle. I also liked Yes!, Strawberry Swing and Lost in Japan/Reign of Love. I thought the worst song on the album was by far Viva la Vida. Not even close. The song starts off semi-promising, but I just felt that it never really goes anywhere. Overall, the album is definitely worth picking up, even just for the fact that it's probably going to be the biggest selling album of the year.

Just listening to it now, there are some pretty songs.

EDIT: ok, got a good listen with this album and it stinks!

  • its different, its really layered and atmospheric with a ton of strings ( enos production)

but its a slight departure for them which is good.

I think I like it, will know for sure after a few more listens.
