Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

    What a run!!
I guess if I had to pick one,,, Beggars Banquet. I'll never forget buying that album when it first came out, putting it on and that drumbeat for Sympathy for the Devil started. Haha,,,,, mannnnnnn!!!!!! what an album!

And of course, my favorite live album ever, which has gotten me across the country on road trips, and home on late night drives innumerable times!:

    Get your Ya Ya's out!

It was mine, too, until I heard the boots of that tour, and realised how much studio overdubbin' had gone on! That shouldn't really affect my view of a "live" album, but, ya know, it did!

My favourite would be Sticky Fingers, so many good tunes on that one. It was also the very first Stones album I ever bought.

i would say sticky fingers, but then i am leaving out let it bleed, sucking in the seventies (if this counts),exile, beggars, black and blue, some girls, its only rock & roll!!

    i just dunno!!!!!!

  • Exile is so great because they had just released "Hot Rocks" and there was no pressure for a hit album, and of course the drugs. I love all of of them during that era, from "Beggars Banquet" through "Goat Head Soup". No one could touch them.

"100 Years Ago" and "Hide Your Love" off that album are so great.

Tough call between Let it Bleed and Exile. Exile is maybe a little more cohesive, but LIB has Gimme Shelter, my all time favorite Stones tune.

    Haha, that's my favorite too!

I'm not sure I could choose one favorite from that bunch ... one of the greatest, if not THE greatest run in rock history.

    Without a doubt!

Fins! Yup, Get Your Ya Ya's out definitely had some overdubs on it. Everyone knew that when it came out.
A lot of live albums did back then. Live at Leeds was full of them.
That was before the International Standard of Live Album Wholesomeness and Authenticity Act of 1977 was put into effect. :D

    I still like it though!

The only run that compares is Bringing It All Back Home/Highway 61/Blonde on Blonde. Only 3 albums instead of 4, but the fact that he released them all within just over one year is such a stunning achievement, it's breathtaking.

That is a great set of 3.
Man, I can't think of 4 albums in a row that were the soundtrack of my life like those Stones ones, though.

The only other run I can think of is the Bach Cello Suites 1-6.
6 great ones in a row!!
I was really young when Bach wrote them, though, so I couldn't buy albums yet. :D

Yeah, but it took him six years or so, as opposed to Dylan's 15 months!

Still, yeah, a pretty good run. I was young too, but my dad bought them so I got to listen ;)

Personally, I think the first 6 Zeppelin albums are the greatest run ever.

    Jimi's 3 studio albums ain't bad, either.
