ive got another band to add here:

    mother love bone.

in fact, they are kind of the epitome of the hypocrisy of the pretentious pricks on this board. people that will moan about how bad bon jovi is and then praise andrew wood in the next breath. that's bullshit. mlb was one bottle of eyeliner and a pair of spandex pants away from glam metal and you all fucking know it. but they're a fun band to listen to. so to all the kids "too cool" to have fun with their music... pull the sticks our of your asses and admit you're all full of shit.

That is a ridiculous statement. Good music is good music, and the idea that none of it can be fun or positive is beyond ignorant.

Weak people ignore great music if it doesn't fit into their specified category of "whats cool".

you are, of course, 100% correct.

    I hate you.
    :D

but seriously, I am guilty of hating on glam bands but I've always felt that there was far more to MLB than the likes of Bon Jovi so I am willing to look the other way with regards to their image etc. Bon Jovi - lame love songs, MLB - genuinely humorous at times, often beautiful, always heartfelt and sometimes with bizarre classical references which suggests something more than just eyeliner and spray on pants.

Lets just keep this simple. Are you saying that is is impossible for a song to be good if it is upbeat or has a postive message?

Think Lars, I'm quite sure even you must like something happy.

so why dont you just kill yourself and get it over with? there's this one song called given to fly... that's pretty positive. as are a number of other pearl jam tunes. you're full of shit my friend.

and jerky boys vs. singles proves nothing. jerky boys isn't music. and even if it werent, good music has little to do with whether the lyrics are optimistic or depressing. have you ever listened to emo? very depressing lyrics. why dont you love emo? it's not "fun" so it has to be good right? buckcherry's lyrics aren't very happy either. doesn't mean they're not a fun band to rock out too. im sorry your mommy took your allowance and daddy doesn't play catch with you anymore, but there's more to life than being pissed off and angry all day. such people are tools... try not to be one of them. and cut your mullet metalboy.

First band that comes to mind for me...THE STROKES! There's just something about them that always lifts me up and makes me bop around like a fool. Especially the live shows. The perfect way to describe it all is definitely "fun". :D

yes! Ever play pool to the Strokes? Their first two records are perrrrrrrrfect for the job. One of my fondest memories from the tenth grade was playing pool for a few hours in my friend's attic listening to those records. Bright and sunny (attic has a window :) ).. beautiful day.
