since I got nothing better else to do (and after putting my little one to bed), I stumbled upon NEW CH interviews w/Neil and Nick. Very touching and funny interview they did in Australia, after doing the Live Earth show.
ENJOY!

I will be seeing them in November in Scotland and looking forward to it although i was surprised to see that the whole arena is seating. Do they ever play split enz songs live these days? Is anyone else here going to the Glasgow gig?0

first of 3 shows this sunday.....weeeeeeeeeeee!!!0 -
Does anyone from the board go to the gig in Vienna tomorrow (Oct 3)? I know that there will be a lot of people not living in Austria coming in for that one...You can tell a man from what he has to say - Neil & Tim Finn

Holy crap! I just came home from the very first Crowded House show in Vienna - but I hope not the last. At least Neil said they had to come back soon.
The show wasn't advertised, the band doesn't get any airplay here and the record company totally f***** up the new release and still it was sold out with people standing in front of the venue looking for tickets.
They started with There Goes God (one of my absolute faves!) and it got better and better from then on. It's really rare over here that people know all the lyrics and sing along from note one but in this case they did (with the exception of 8 Miles High where my sister and I were two of the few who knew the song). I'm sure I'm forgetting something (I think there was one more from the new album), but that's the setlist - not in the correct order:
There Goes God
Don’t Stop Now
Say That Again
People Are Like Suns
Silent House
Transit Lounge
World Where You Live
Don’t Dream It’s Over
Something So Strong
Hole in the River
Into Temptation
When You Come
Fall At Your Feet
Weather With You
Pineapple Head/8 Miles High
Locked Out
Distant Sun
Not The Girl You Think You Are
Private Universe
I was hoping for Better Be Home Soon, but I'm not complaining
The band really seemed to have fun on stage, improvising and joking around quite a bit. A guy in front of us filmed some songs with his camera phone, maybe they'll turn up on youtube tomorrow. My sister made some pics, I hope they turn out well. You can tell a man from what he has to say - Neil & Tim Finn

OMG Sonja...that setlist is AWESOME!!

Thank you! We did have to wait for 22 years and obviously we weren't the only ones. The Viennese audience used to be known for standing around with their hands in their pockets and maybe nod their heads once in a while, but once someone is 'adopted' they can't do no wrong. Seems Crowded House fall in that category nowThere were also quite obviously a lot of people who had never been to the Arena before - we were asked not only once where the entrace was and if they were really playing here.
The Arena is a former slaughter house that was taken over by the former hippies, punks and communists in a spectacular way in the 70s (even Leonard Cohen came by and played for the occupants) and not much has changed since then. When I had artists playing there when I was still working for a record company, I always apologised for the venue firstAnd if I was still working for said company, CH wouldn't have had to get a taxi to the show, so the cabdriver couldn't have gotten lost
When Hole in the River started, we both thought it was wishful hearing. They don't play that one very often, do they? We were also really surprised by the inclusion of 8 Mile High in Pineapple Head. You can tell a man from what he has to say - Neil & Tim Finn

Does anyone know if Crowded House are happy with people taping their shows and if boots can be picked up anywhere? There was a company selling 'selected' dates from the UK tour officially, but for whatever reason Bournemouth was not deemed worthy. I'd like to relive it though. If I knew where it was, I would take you there...0
