i'm listening to this song atm and it is literally breaking me in two. i am not in a good place and nothing i seem to do helps me. i reach out. i cry. i scream for anyone to come help me. but aside from one prson who puts himself out for me noone hears me. i need so much and im getting nothing.
yeah yeah i know what youre thinking. another intense pj fan. and i so dont want to come across as that. but truth be told, i am running out of reasons to stay.
anyhoo though tis not my fave pj song i fully acknowledge black as being pj's best song.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

Hopefully, you can get some happiness out of the upcoming tour. That is, if you're going. If not, I suggest investing a bit of time and money. These shows may be what the doctor ordered.

Running out of reasons to stay is a scary statement to make. If there is anything I can throw your way it is a reminder that everyone goes through tough times and that you've just got to ride it out. Take Eddie for example: put yourself in his place when he wrote Black and when he was singing it early on in their career, he was definitely struggling. Fast forward to him hearing that crowd at Benaroya belt it back at him and how that made him feel all these years later. It's amazing what time can do to perspective if you can just hold on through the hard times. Anyways, I hope you're ok. Just keep listening to PJ, they'll get you through...

And yes, one of the best versions of Black I've ever heard.

I hope there's someone in your life that WILL keep you staying.
I know the feeling, I sometimes want to disappear completely but
there's three people that means too much to me to leave them.
one is whom i'm inspired by and the other two are whom i want to inspire.

    best wishes, cate!!

I can only say that I've been in your shoes, maybe not the EXACT pair, but I've been there. Some of the suggestions are true, ride it out & think about where Ed was then & where he is at now.

By the way, Given to Fly saved me, it is now tatooed from my toes to my fingertips, LITERALLY. I tear up almost everytime I hear it cuz if it weren't for that song & that song alone i may not be here now.

    Hang on & be strong....................

I recall first hearing black on benaroya and my sone tingling right the way up.....mesmorizing.....and thanks to Dirty stuart on here I watched it for the first time on saturday night, awesome.

To the orginal poster, keep going my friend, and never give up, you never know whats round the corner....Life certainly has its peaks and troughs, and for every trough there is usualyl a peak....get through this and you'll come out the other side.....Pearl Jam is just the tonic....

IMO, the best version of Black ever is the one from 2006-09-09 Marseille France. The ending essentially changes the entire meaning and inflection of the song....in a good way.
