I stopped at my local frame shop, and asked some questions about the framing process. I have a '98 Pittsburgh poster to frame and want to archive it. I would rather if it was not glued to board. The woman told me if the poster was not glued to the board it will eventually look wavy in the frame. This is my first attempt at framing and was curious as to what most people do. I appreciate any information.

100% untrue. Don't use that shop. Competent fram shops will use archival mounting strips that won't allow any adhesive to touch the poster. As long as you flatten the poster sufficiently before framing if it's been rolled it won't look wavy.

I didn't think it sounded right, but wanted to check. I appreciate the reply.

To the guy looking for framing help --I rarely frame posters as well so i took a chance with Hobby Lobby this weekend because of the UV glass and acid free mat/backing. $86 after 50%off frames and 40% off mats coupons. Im happy with it. Watched them the whole time. Better job than i couldve done and very careful with it.
Yep. I've had a bunch of posters framed at Hobby Lobby and they've done a great job for a reasonable price.
You actually watched them frame the poster?? I usually just drop mine off and pick it up a few days later whenever it's done.
What does hobby lobby charge? Ballpark..i know every poster and frame style is different.

I agree with everyone else. Just say no ... and run!
these posters look amazing. is there any place you guys are getting these framed/matted/double matted for under $100?! i have so many prints that need to be framed but most PJ ones are odd sized so i can't ever find cheaper (under $40) frames for them. and custom framing seems to be very pricey.

Hobby Lobby breakdown for me last week...
Frame 22x28 $30 after 50% sale on frames UV glass $28 Matting (acid free) $24 after 40% coupon A few minor charges after that and i was out the door under $100 after taxes.
Im sure its not the greatest frame on earth quality wise but it looks nice and is sturdy enough. Im happy with it

I'd say around $80-90 has been the average when using a standard size frame....usually a 22x28 frame when framing an 18x24 poster. They always have all sorts of sales/deals going on over there too.
