JEFF HARDY AND JEFF AMENT USED TO LOOK THE SAME
"Pearl Jam always eases my mind and fires me up at the same time.”-Jeff Hardy
A copy of Beauty of the Burst, which is a photographic tribute to the 1959 Sunburst LP, as close as I'm gonna get to one.
A pair of Gibson guitar stools, my wife bought over the net from Nashville, which was pretty cool.
The Heavy Metal Vault CD set, interesting.
Slash's biography
Into the Wild soundtrack
Bought myself Raising Sand
We have a trip to the US coming in a few weeks, so there was no point in paying Oz prices for stuff, when a shop-a-thon is imminent.
my wife got me the BOTB book a couple christmas' ago.. great book!
Hmmm, well someone sure has an aweful lot of $$$$$$$$$ at their disposal.
You must be a lawyer, doctor, stock broker, computer guy, or maybe your
family is just independently wealthy?
I remember buying a ton of gear like that a few years ago, mind you it was
for my job, not just because I wanted to show my expensive gear (and the
great thing was that I was able to write it all off that year).
Unfortunately those days are past now that Sony® isn't writing me as many
checks (I wish I still had the disposable income).
Good for you, glad you're doing well enough to afford it.
My '59 Les Paul Junior never got played (which is why I sold it), though I still
use my '67 Dlx Rvb (Blackface), '67-Plexi (1959-SuperLead), and '66 JTM-45
(1987-Mark-II) from time to time - still sound great after all these years, but
they're expensive to get worked on, which is why I don't use them as much.

Nah... typical middle-class family man with a decent job and some savings. I've been buying selling gear for quite some time and each upgrade cost a bit more then the next but it has worked out OK for me. Been playing in bands for about 6 or so years and had some years where I could write-off some gear but for the most part just a hobby and I'm a vintage nut as well. What I didn't post was all the gear I sold to get the stuff I bought recently. I don't stockpile guitars and amps. The collection is relatively small but yes, very nice. Check out this verified brazilian R9 at Maverick Music:
In '03 that guitar was around $3800... today, you couldn't get one below $7500. Investment grade, to say the least. I recently sold it which allowed me to get some of the gear you saw. These are the same guys who sold the Peter Green Burst for 1.4 million...
BTW... Nice junior you had there. Is that a cali case that's pictured with it? Those are $3K by themselves! Those amps are sweet also. If that superlead and JTM 45 are all original (trannies, etc.) then you should do very well in 10yrs time. Good stuff....

I don't buy gear to make $$$ on it - I sell gear because I'm not using it anymore.
I bought the '59 LP Jr. for $2.6K, sold it for $15.4K, though I wish I hadn't sold it
to that guy since he only collects (he doesn't even really play that much, or very
well). Such a waste of a nice instrument that could've made a "REAL" player happy.
Truthfully, I never thought that it played that great (but I needed that vintage
vibe for a few projects) - It had a fairly limited sound with only one pickup,
so I eventually stopped using it - I have no need for unused gear, hence why
I sold it. The case really made the deal for the guy, so I basically raped him
on the price (he paid way more than it was worth - but it serves him right for
doing that gear collector B.S.) - I'd rather sell my gear to a real guitar player,
someone that'll play it and love it because of what it is, not store it in a room.
It made me feel really bad, so I vowed to only sell to real players from now on.
Amps, yeah everything's original - I use them mostly for session work. I picked
them up a few years ago fairly cheap, now they're worth a bit, but again it
would make me sad to sell to a collector, so I won't. The Marshalls are worth
between 8-11K, but I'd rather sell to a real player (that'll use it regularly) for
half of the current value, than a B.S. collector for double what it's worth.
I hate collectors because they price real musicians out of the market for gear
that doesn't even get used. It's rare that a normal/regular guitarist will ever
be able to play (let alone ever own) an original 1959 Les Paul Std, and it makes
me really sad to know that most of those '59 LP STD's sit around un-played.

Sweet Junior too. I know this is kind of off topic, but where could I get a new pickguard for my junior? I'd love to get a tortoise shell one to replace the black one that came with it. Its a Custom Shop '58 Jr doublecut.

Thanks! I think I'm going to have to trace mine and send them the tracing. Because its a doublecut, the shape is different from a regular junior, hence its been a lot tougher to find one. My SG needs a new pickguard too, might as well get them both in one shot.

sounds very good. open and pretty ballsy. i was expecting mellower since it's based on a little amp but it's surprisingly meaty.

Try these guys: http://www.pickguards.com/GibsonLP_SG.htm You might want to send them yours to get an actual fit and see if they can do it in tortoise shell.
