Disagree with "GREATEST song writer ever line" JMO

Could anybody compare EV's best line to Dylans

I seriously hope you are joking. No offence to Mr. Vedder, I love him but come on.
  • I saw Dylan at the 9:30 club a few years back and it was so boring. I actually remember thinking to myself at the Dylan show, "Pearl Jam would absolutely blow the roof of this place into orbit if they played here." I have a ton of respect for what Dylan has done for music (i.e., giving rock and roll a conscience), but I would never in a million years pick him over Ed Ved live.

That my friend was a horrible choice. Coming from a true Dylan fan, he is by far the worst live act I have ever seen. I never got to see him in his prime but I have seen him a handfull of times in the past 10 years. I actually left a show last year early and swore I would never waste $85 on him ever again. He is just flat out terrible.
If this was 1975 I would say go see Dylan (Yes I know Ed was just a pup). Believe me, he is worth seeing just to say you saw him live. He is an icon and the GREATEST song writer ever. But he won't be remembered for his past 10 years of touring. His studio albums are actually ok but when he sings those songs live it sounds like he just had a stroke 5 minutes before the show.

I did get to see Dylan in concert back in the day -- either 1974 or 1975. He was incredible. He did an acoustic set in the middle of the concert that was amazing. I saw him many years later, actually playing in my small town. I took my kids, who were maybe early teens, just so they could be in the same room as a legend. I thought the concert sucked -- he made his wonderful songs almost unrecognizable. I know he doesn't want to be stuck, but he should have played something new rather than decimate his masterpieces. His back-up band was pretty tight, though. A lot of people in my town raved about the concert afterwards, but having seen him at his peak, it was just a disappointment to me.

I bought Bob Dylan tickets a couple weeks ago, I got 3rd row centre.
When the EV tour was announced last week I thought "ohhh boy" what to do.
Keeping in mind I am getting married next year and trying to save my money. If this was a few years ago I would have gotten the Dylan tickets plus the 2 Eddie shows.
So needless to say I opted out of the Eddie tix...if it was PJ it would have been another story but . . . . It's going to hurt the night of the shows but I'll survive.

eh...I saw Bob two years ago and he wasn't very good. I personally think he phoned it in that night. I mean, it was cool nonetheless because it was Bob Dylan and I love so many of the songs. But unlike some other guys I have seen like Roger Waters and John Fogerty, Bob has become a caricature of his former self. I enjoyed the show and had a good time (which is all that matters anyway) but I totally didn't take him seriously up there...and even laughed once or twice.

i saw dylan a few months ago here in halifax. it was the most confusing, hard to hear, fucked up show i have ever seen. knew going in that i won't know a word that came out of his month, just go in and hear the music background and the feel of the experience .. but mama mia! the screaming, his vocals wasn't even close to the band's play, it was unorganized. he was messing up the tracks. i had friends close to me that had all his records, 8tracks, etc.. heard all his stuff, but they diidn't know .. what was going on.

i would so go for vedder tickets then today's dylan anyday.

i had bought tickets to nin's in toronto 2 months ago. they are playing august 5th. i got kick ass seats. i got struck out from their fan club presale, which was a nightmare. but that friday, early with ticketmaster scored section 109 sweet ass seats. now i have to sell them. might just do the ticketexchange with ticketmaster. i don't do ebay. if you know me, and i know you .. and you want these tickets, just pm me! :)
