  • I can play it...

Just like any other song with fast parts, you should play them really slow and memerize it and gradually make it faster until you can play a live newer, even faster version...

    Practice is good..
When this just feels like spinning plates.
  • except for maybe the solo, Even Flow is pretty easy.
    Riverside.. LA.. California. EV?
  • easy easy easy

    and fun!

  • I have the offical Tab book for Ten, and Evenflow is wrong in it. Don't know how they could screw that up.

Yeah, I have that tab book as well and was thinking the same thing.

that tab book is a piece of crap. are any of the songs right?
also you cant really play along to the original even flow on ten, because the tuning is slightly down (?) and it sounds a bit off, so its better just to do live!
and mikes part is easier than stones.... (besides solo)

    i noticed that too!

    its so bizarre...

    actually if you pay attention...

Mike plays the song in a STANDARD key guitar. he just plays 2 frets down.

could be a bit confusing if you're watching him and trying to match it to whats written.

the best thing to do in any situation is to look at sheet music and listen to the song yourself... don't go strait from the paper.

my sheet musics have notes and corrections scribbled all over the place

It says Standard tuning for Stone, when it clearly isn't.

Another thing that bothers me is how there is an album version and a radio version and they're very different. Two different solos, and the radio version is faster and sounds pitched higher.
  • i noticed that before too.. the video has a completley different song really.

they must have played it both standard and flat

  • The album version is much better though. Better solo, louder, less pop feeling.

i think ed is better on the other version though.

    neither beat it live though.

    like... 1994 and on live..

  • I thought the album version was sped up or slowed down or something...

  • i think i have seen 100 different tabs for this song! the funny thing is i read an interview with mike from a while back and he said one nite he and stone sat down and were trying to work out how 2 play it!
our guitarist just watched the LATG video, there is a part where u can easily c what stone is playing...tho its quite different from most tabs, sound fine tho!

  • the tab in the book lists some outrageous tuning for stone (i think it lists it several times)

but every single time i've seen him play it, without exception, its been very obviously in standard.

He plays it in open D tuning DADF#AD (low to high)

I can't believe you posers haven't heard of Given to Wail.

On another note, does anyone know what key Even Flow is in? It looks like F (since he ends on D minor) but he he hits some non-F notes in there.
    Riverside.. LA.. California. EV?

But it can be played in many other tunings and still be in key and tune. That's what's confusing us all. Given to Wail is just another interpretation. A pretty damn good one I must add though.
  • I play a version drop d and another open d. i fing the drop d 1 is correct. its hard if u just look at the tab and spend about 5minutes at it but if you sit down with a guitar and tab and a bit of dedication you can have the whole thing nailed in about 2hours. I found a great site dedicated to mike mccready and it has a good tab on it. check it out http://www.giventowail.com/new/tabs/pj/ten/even.txt

thats the tuning listed, yes. and every single time i've seen stone play it (from 92 and onward) it has not appeared to be in that tuning.

i just play it in Eminor. which is a 1/2 step up from where they play it.

mike plays a fret down from that i believe.
