I will let you know if I sell it, its a love/hate relationship. I like the tones, but never seem to be able to duplicate them LOL. I think the pedal is best for studio use.
The HB is in a league all by itself, there is nothing else out there like it. It can be placed anywhere in the chain, which is something I like about it. It sweetens everything, and does so without getting to distorted, in fact this is a real light overdrive with great harmonics and is super sensitive to your picking. The best part of the HB is it loves to be stacked. I am pushing it with the COt and Eternity and it is just awesome, light break up, smokin lead blues riffs, and it never gets muddy or really heavy.
BJ says it is just like the old supro amps and it sounds just like an 18watt being pushed. It has great clean highs and runs great in a clean and slightly dirty amp.
I had a hard time picking between the Eternity and the HB and they are different, so I got them both.
I run my COT all the time and have been playing around with the HB and Eternity seperate, but I just love em stacked.
My BBB is shipping soon, board is built and Sean snagged some OC81's that he found over seas, it should be the perfect cross between rangemaster and tone bender.
yeah the tone knob will be important. Rangemaster being that upper end and the tonebender handling the darker flavor. I bet it will sound outstanding with a little reverb especially hall or plate.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
Ibanez Tube Screamer Turbo w/ Keeleys Mod Plus -
Ibanez Tube Screamer w/ Keeleys Baked Mod - Boss DD-6 Delay
I've been thinking about getting my TS9 modded for awhile now, but I'm not sure which way to go. What's the main diff between the stock ts9 and the mod plus? Between the stock ts9 and the baked mod?
I'm also seriously considering a keeley rat first. That way I'll have a distortion, besides the corrosion, while my ts9 is getting modded.
Before you did that, you did love the stock sound of your ts9...I'm assuming? Because I love it.
take what you love about it. add clarity and a shit ton of volume.
The rat is cool, my setup is similar, Barber DD (JRC4558 OP AMP) more gain, more harmonics etc. essentially a hot rod TS -808 into the Keeley 3 way rat.
I've found I use the middle postion mighty mouse and the left tubescreamer+rat kind of thing. It's very metallic and very late 70's marshall tone, brownish, and very abrasive silicon style fuzz almost Univox super fuzz style. Insane amounts of volume.
It's a fun second pedal. sometimes I use it by itself. Clips are available on keeley's site but there are a lot more shades than the ones posted. You have to re learn it if you're used to a regular rat.
There are a great many players that use the TS-9 to Rat to fender amp combo and it sounds great.
One band you might check out where I know the lead player uses this combo and only this combo is jupiter coyote. The guys name is John Felty and he's a great player. soundclips at http://www.jupitercoyote.com

I've never had a regular rat, but I've always heard good things about the rat. Gonna go check out the samples.
The baked mod is awesome. Im getting alot of feedback but i think i fixed the problem. I'll know better tommorow in the studio.
Ill be writting my review after this next jam.
And i know its a stupid thing, but I love the wHITE LIGHT.
This is the greatest band in the world

Definately going to pick up a keeley rat. Then after getting used to it and exploring it's sounds...I will have a decision to make. Send my ts9 in to get the Plus mod or the Baked mod.

If you get the Rat and like it, get the Plus Mod.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
From the sounds of things, since I love the stock sound...the plus mod is one step up that I'll love even more...and the baked mod is a step up from the plus mod.

Baked is a BIG step up from Plus. WAAAAY more gain. I just mean that the Plus will interact with the Rat in a more predictable, usable way. Unless you want sonic craziness.

Ahhh..gotcha. I have sonic craziness already with the ts9 going into the corrosion. With both of them on, it sounds like a keyboard...but when I stop playing....feeeeeeeedback. I can totally get that Strokes sound from that 12:51 song.

That's what you get when you've got gobs of gain. Cool, if you know how to use it... dangerous in the wrong hands.

Very true. In my younger days I might have tried to work that sound into EVERY song. But you know, now I know that I could only use it when covering that song or maybe as a lead tone on maybe a couple other songs.

I actually hated the stock sound of my tubescreamer.
Getting it modded was my last chance and if i didnt like it i was gonna get rid of it.
-Ben Harper-MSG 1 2003 -7-8
The Tubescreamer-into-a-DeVille combo is tasty...
It is a good combo. But not untill the pedal got the mod. Before that it was very muffled.

I got good results with a stock TS-9 into a Blues DeVille... but my Keeley's are much better.
Getting used to the Baked Mod yet? I love mine. My review I posted on Harmony Central was just glowing...

I love my Keeley's.

spiral is probably the best representation the sound quality is dick on the old stuff sorry.
I should note the guitar is a dodson strat with hot rails in all postitions. John plays a lot of slide.
i like to keep it simple and raw angus young style
