What's the desirable gear for this year?

So what does everyone desire and hopefully have by the end of the year?

I have many but only a few will actually happen...

Pedals:
Lovepedal Magicboy
DAM 1966
Fulltone Choral Flange
BJF Pink Purple Fuzz
BJF Baby Blue (if I can find it)
DC Brick or any other power supply

Guitars:
Revered Slingshot
Gibson Doublecut Les Paul (I was looking at these before my SG, I'm still considering one)
Rickenbacker 360 12 String
Maybe a Uke?

Amp:
Peavey Delta Blues
-I need an amp here in Virginia since I spend some time down here at my dads and I can't bring my amp down.

Anyway...I hope to possibly have the Doublecut or Slingshot and 2 of those pedals by the end of the year. The Rickenbacker I want really badly but it is just too much money right now. I also need to put possibly another 150-250$ on fixing up that squier tele I got sitting here. Change the tuners, pickguard, pickups, nut, bridge, knobs, etc.

  • If I can find the right head at the right price I'll be looking to let go of my Delta Blues...

    Want list:
    Analog Delay
    Octave
    Tremelo
    Compressor/Sustainer

And once I get all that:
    2-level pedalboard and power supply

I'm just hesitant to put any more money into this hobby until I get more serious about it and start playing live with someone, somewhere. My dog sure as hell doesn't care if my delay is analog or my compressor is true bypass.

    It's nice isn't it?

Let me know if you find anything and are willing to let it go.

Yeah I really like it...I'll definitely let you know if I find something that makes me pull the trigger on a new amp.

I'm just not sure what that will be. I need to get out and play a lot more amps to find the sound I'm looking for...for all I know the Delta Blue may be what I'm after :). I've had my eyes on 30 watt Orange and Vox heads after hearing them perform live. Reeves heads with power scaling sound like a perfect fit for me but are way out of my price range unless I were to find a great deal on a used one. Also not sure what I should get for wattage as I want my next amp to be THE amp that I have for years...with that said I want to be able to play on lower volume levels but also want to have enough headroom if I were to ever play a live gig without mics (breakup isn't my thing). Again, that's why the Reeves with power scaling would be perfect (or a switchable wattage amp like a Marshall Jubilee 25/50, etc.)

    too many options...

-a chorus that doesn't suck (of course had a choralflange and sold it stupidly)
-a good fuzz (thinking another tweakfuzz maybe. again sold it stupidly)
-the motivation to play and create stuff again.

-whatever i find that's interesting in my travels that my wife will tolerate (going to cruise vintage shops in san fran soon hopefully). i'd love an old jazzmaster/mustang/jaguar in lefty.

-would like a vox AC15CC1 but since i can't really use my amps anyway...

If you have a nice solid overdrive/distortion that you really enjoy I think a Fender Concert Reverb would be up your ally. The clean channel is beautiful and you can change the wattage from 12 watts to 50 watts. But they don't make it anymore which sucks. It was one of the amps I was considering when looking for an amp but it was too expensive something like 1250$ I believe and also I wanted an amp with a nice overdrive...the CR didn't have a great overdrive.

But if you find an amp you like and it has a master volume knob and a channel volume knob, you are fine. :)

exhausted - how did you like the choralflange?

By the end of the year I'd like to have at least one more, if not two axes. One will definitely be a Tele, probably a MIM that I can mess around with and make some modifications to. Next is either a Les Paul Junior doublecut, or a Les Paul 57 Goldtop Historic, or a 59 or 60 Historic in Cherry. If only I was independently wealthy.
  • im looking into two options, both including koa.

I either want a koa 6 string, or an acoustic koa lap slide (ben harper ish, but not exactly) with absolutley no electronics in either option. Im currently looking at many websites trying to figure out what i should get and where i should get it. Theres no way i will be gettign it shipped because of the DRAMATIC, and i mean "dramatic" climate change between here and anywhere else. It will crack during shipping. it would need to be driven here, not pressurized on a plane then depressurized here. if you have any suggestions, please let me know. Price range is up to 2500

i found it perfect for very subtle chorus and in stereo it was just amazing. it has lots of bad sounds if you get too crazy with the depth and mix but for the most part, very good. doesn't do the leslie thing as well as they'd have you believe though.

the only chorus, besides one CE-2 i had, that didn't have that horrible metallic ring around the high frequencies that so many have now.

I'll have to look into the Fender Concert Reverb. 12 watts would be perfect to not piss off neighbors, and 50 watts would be more than enough for any live situation I'm likely to come across and plenty of headroom I'd imagine. The amps overdrive isn't much of a factor for me since I have a Shannon OD and a Keeley BD-2...as long as the amp takes pedals well that's all I need. Thanks for the tip. The Delta Blues has a really nice overdrive but I never use it (thanks to Mr. Shannon).

I would like my amp to work properly for one. I'm going to the amp doctor today I hope.

(Mucho appologies Eric, those two guitars are awesome, and I know it's not setup where you want it, but I think the strat neck is perfect on your tele and those pickups are awesome. Thanks for letting me play them.)

Two. I realize I definately definately need a backup/practice amp.

Three, I'd like to have one of those DAM 1966's too or maybe a super bee.

Four, Sell the LP, finish the myriad upgrades to the strat, and get either a Casino a Dot or an ES 125 and put lockers on it, and perhaps mull over pickup upgrades.

Hello Ebay, yes, I'd like to start shoping for Fender Vibro Champs, Princetons and other semi cheap amps I can actually afford and have as a backup.

Bumbox would be a great option If I had a cabinet.

this one is gorgeous, but I think I'd like a ES 125 T thin body, a bit better.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

Yeah I'm not sure if it takes pedals well, I never put a pedal infront of it when I tried it out.

Yeah just let me know if you find anything, no pressue :). I don't really need anything until the end of the year.

I think I'm heading to this guitar shop I found here in Warrenton, VA (I'm at my dad's now) they are a Taylor, Peavey, and Gibson dealer...So I think I may have some fun today :)

    even the analogman clone chorus?

i picked up an mxr stereo chorus today after reading some good reviews. i liked the EQ on the wet side and the fact that it's got a mix knob etc.

it was promising in the store. the leslie-esque was better than the choralflange.

I think you'll like having stereo. all choruses should be stereo IMHO.

ok. plugged into the fender/orange, stereo through the echo park & verbzilla and it's heavenly.

basically perfect. i'll know better in a while but i'd say it's a fitting rival to the choralflange.

also, if anyone's interested in my DL4, it's up for sale. 97% mint. no adapter though. offers?

nice. I'm probably selling my DL4 too. I may end up with the Digitech Delay for a while or forgo it altoegther. I want a Wiggler and I have guitar mods to pay for.

What are you asking for the DL4 $200?

don't bother with the digidelay. it's a major letdown after the dl4. i'm liking the echo park now for footprint and somewhat different stereo behaviour. both it and the verb are quieter than the past ones I had.

let's go $200 shipped within NA. if anyone's interested i'll send pics. in box with manual etcetc.

Depending on how you spec 'em out, $3300 and up. Terry has a midrange control built into that guitar that is similar in function to a Pultec. If I go Terrycaster, I'll have a Fralin P-92 in the neck instead of the mini-hum. :)

    eek

Last night I went to a friends house and he invited over a few local musicians to jam last night. This guy had an SG and put in the Fralin p-90...sweet jesus that sounded good, I didn't ask what the wind was of the pickups (if I used that term correctly, haha :) )

anyway, I said in another post before...Maybe I'll just get a used Rivera amp or a Delta Blues and run both of them and take the roof off of my apartment...lol

I have the Fralin P-92's (humbucker-sized P-90's) in my Delia. Best pickup I've ever heard, and that includes vintage gibson P-90's and PAF's.
