No, not "since I was a little kid".
I actually started playing guitar very late (17), but didn't take it seriously.
Then at age 20 I ended up getting a FULL Music Scholarship, so I had to take it seriously (I'm now 33 - so 13 years).
I ended up getting a Music Degree (Jazz Guitar and Classical Guitar Studies - Minor in Guitar Performance).
I'm a guitar instructor - I focus on a practical approach to understanding the instrument (meaning a big emphasis on Music Theory, NOT songs)
I'm also a session artist for Sony® (among others), so I need to know and understand music and music theory to play what's handed to me.
I've been fortunate enough to play/record with many bands/people over the past years.
This is all I do - I make music for a living -- Hope this clears things up for you :)
If you check out my MySpace site you can hear a couple things I've recorded, and read a bit more about me and what I do:

Yes - I believe I've said that before.
It was during my studio troll days - when I never left the studio - like that was soo long ago :).
I recorded a tune with them in late 1996 (though admitedly I've never heard it on anything).
Ed was having some vocal trouble at that time, so I had to come back the next day.
It might be on a B-side or something, but more than likely it was just never used.
