Member Only Weekend
Ed clearly does paid/corporate events The full band has done paid/corporate events before. Why can't we as a club take advantage of that.
I think that we should have a yearly members only weekend in a small theater. I'm imagining a capacity of 800-2000 seat theaters that are truly the best. A different city could be used every year.
The concept comes together from multiple possibilities. 1. A super rich member could make an offer of what, 10 mil to Pearl Jam to give to charity / year. That person would have earned a ticket to the weekend. 2. 10-50 rich members combine to reach that charity donation. They should probably each get a ticket too. The first 2 are followed by a member only lottery. 3. I like 3. How about 100,000 members agree to pay just $100 to charity for the opportunity/lottery to see PJ for a full weekend of MEMBERS only shows. One ticket/member possible for a truly members only weekend of shows in a legendary small theater.
They will pay to play. Why can't we make this happen?
Of course there are many variables and adjustments that could be made. Hell, it could be an arena and 400,000 members with $25 donations. Not a big fan as I have always wanted to see PJ in a small theater.
We pay this much for mystery bags in the hopes of getting an autographed poster or purple pick. Why not for this opportunity?
Would 100,000 members put in $100?
Would 50,000 put in $200?
I just know that there are numbers that could/would work to make this happen.
2 shows over 2 nights with the same fans and no repeats. One night seniority based another lottery.

This basically happens at MSG every 2-3 years.
Except, I'm not on the hook paying the $100 for a slim chance I get a ticket. I'm out.

2 nights at the Ryman or the Apollo or the Showbox or the
Forum in London?
50+ songs with the enthusiasm the band would give to a fully member audience.
$100 to CHARITY for a 1 in 50 approx. opportunity seems fair to me.
One could purchase an unlimited amount of raffle tickets if needed,
Only allowing for one win though.
100,000 people would not be needed if this was allowed.
How about 2 nights at Red Rocks with a 1 in 10 chance per ticket or
the Gorge with less than a 1 in 4 chance for $100.
They will play 2 nights for us if we as members could get $10mil to the Vitalogy Foundation.
This is undeniable.Post edited by YAKIMATSU onSoldier Field 7-11-95, Alpine Valley 6-26-98, United Center 6-29-98, Riverport Amphitheater (St. Louis)7-2-98, MGM Grand Arena 10-22-00, Sprint Center (Kansas City)5-3-10, Adams Event Center (Missoula)9-30-12, Wrigley Field 7-19-13, Jobing.com Arena (Phoenix)11-19-13, Moda Center (Portland)11-29-13, Spokane Arena 11-30-13, Pepsi Center (Denver)10-22-14, Gila River Arena (Phoenix)5-9-22, Moody Center (Austin)9-18-23, Moody Center 9-19-23, Rogers Arena (Vancouver)5-4-24, Rogers Arena 5-6-24, MGM Grand 5-16-24, MGM Grand 5-18-24, Wrigley Field 8-29-24, Wrigley Field 8-31-24, Nashville 5-6-25, Nashville 5-8-250 -

Pearl Jam could make legendary albums from these shows that they could sell to make even more money for Vitalogy Foundation. Make them a limited amount and they will easily sell.

By the third line of your message, I already knew this was just a gig for rich folks. Hope they never pull stuff like that (the corporate events they do are already enough, as far as I’m concerned).
What they should do when they’re back on tour is, if they feel like it, add a few more shows per country to kinda bring down the ticket price. End of story.

More than a few people grab mystery bags. They're fun and a very fair price for what you receive. I get not wanting to buy one but why an indignant, bolded announcement?raindog80 said:

I'm sorry that the thought of a charity show for members brings up such hostility.
I guess I overestimated the passion for something special.
I don't fit in with the masses as when I win the lottery I would have loved to do this.

Giving $100 to charity makes one "rich folks" or is the dividing line between us and them something is wrong.
Giving $100 to charity and possibly getting something great.
Is charity that bad? Are we a cruel club?
Giving $100 to charity might make one seem rich in 1940, but not 2025.
Managing a non-profit and making well under 6 figures makes me super rich, I guess.
If $100 is too much money, then you clearly can't afford to travel to the show anyway. To couch people’s issues with this idea as people bring too cheap to give $100 to charity is some willful ignorance. Might somehow be more tone-deaf than the original idea.YAKIMATSU said:Giving $100 to charity makes one "rich folks" or is the dividing line between us and them something is wrong.
