It remains to be seen if there is any real effect (I’m doubtful), but I think a low key takeaway from this is not just that Trump can be rolled by someone being nice to him (or that he is wooed by people who are popular), but that he seemingly has no real ideological North Star. I mean Congress, run by the GOP voted to condemn socialism, and then hours later Trumps all “this guys alright”. And that’s a huge problem. Already this admin has proven to be several fiefdoms ruling the kingdom. If you have no real leader with a real vision, then what’s the endgame? Sure, talking between two parties is good but let’s not forget who and what one half of that conversation is, their history and what they represent. It’s a good thing IF CCOOTWH were an honest broker and you could trust one word spewing forth from his orange pie hole. Unbelievable that folks still hold out hope and allow a sliver of a benefit of a doubt or whatever justification you, general you, prefer to come up with to think he’s suddenly going to change and be anything other than what he is.
All that was about was taking attention away from the Epstein files, meeting with Bone Saw and the affordability issue, partly due to his tariffs and snatching people off the streets. All his abject failures in 9 months aren’t being discussed because he met with The Bus Driver.

I approve of you.It’s a kind of political camouflage — digest the threat by complimenting it.Mamdani doesn’t take the bait.He doesn’t fight.He doesn’t flatter.He just continues speaking plainly.Which leaves Trump in the one position he hates most:performing civility for an audience that isn’t fooled.What the meeting really showedThe full interview isn’t about Mamdani calling Trump a fascist.It’s not about Trump pretending to be gracious.It’s not about a progressive mayor meeting an authoritarian president.What the meeting showed is simpler and more damning:Trump is only powerful when the room fears him.Take the fear away, and he becomes oddly gentle, strangely polite, and completely unable to dominate the conversation.People think tyrants rage because they’re strong.But the truth is they only rage when they know the room will absorb it.Mamdani didn’t absorb it.So Trump didn’t rage.He folded.Nicely. Neatly.Like a man who knows the cameras are watching and doesn’t want the world to see what he looks like when the mask cracks.And if there’s a lesson here for the rest of the country, it’s this:Fear is the oxygen of authoritarianism.Take it away, and even a strongman starts to sound like a man.
