2025 Mystery Bag reveal & trade thread

Sooo...

Mine was 2.07 pounds. Heavier doesn't always equal better.

Years ago, I was convinced the "PJ playing Fenway" wasn't going to happen because Theo Epstein had moved to Chicago and "Obviously, they have no more reason to play Fenway with Eddie's buddy no longer there."

Well...via a monthly contest, I won two tickets to August 7, 2016 (aka Night 2).

In last year's mystery bag, I got a Fenway 2016 jersey.

In this years bag, I got one of those Fenway banners shaped like home plate and a Massachusetts 2024 license plate. (I also got a Philly 98 sticker which... anything 90s is a big win and I also got a black rearviewmirror shirt with the album art on the front. I had no idea this shirt even existed!) I also got one of the retro hats from earlier this year and one of the member shirts from last year...guess who started this thread?

Given three Fenway things in two bags, I'm convinced this is rigged. Ha!

Plus, we've seen Dimitris get a baseball and Leeze get a Benaroya Hall record. (Those people deserve those items!)

I'm not SAYING it's rigged, but there's no way it's 100% "Let's throw random stuff into bags and throw shipping labels on random bags."

I also got two of the same posters via different sales, a McCreepy and somehow have a stack of the Endless War posters. (One AP, one from a merch buddy and probably 2-3 from mystery sales.) From the sale where we all got one single and one album, I got the Music for Film on colored vinyl and I think I got a random 10C single. The majority of my "buy Dark Matter and get a bonus single" were common annual singles that I already had. One was...I believe...Not For You.

In a mystery tube sale, I got a Ames PJ 20 blue variant.

I've got some hot stuff through the years, but I also got some stinkers.


Now here's the weird part:
That same shipping number from this sale repopulated and, according to the UPS site, it says the package was delivered...but there's apparently another package that was due on Friday, but got updated to arrive Saturday.

I'm tempted to believe it's an error, but the information at UPS clearly says the package was delivered on Wednesday.

There is no way I ordered two separate bags. I definitely just ordered one.

Bonus item or glitch? Time will tell.

Hmm.  I'm gonna think on this before I really reply.  Gonna get some coffee in me and hopefully some clarity so I can choose my words wisely.

Ok, so this has been eating at me since early this morning, so I'm just going to put my two cents in so I can get it off my chest. 

Its pretty obvious that if you're a forum regular and well known here, you're a pretty big fan.

But being a big fan and being a regular around here are NOT mutually exclusive.   I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I've been a loyal fan since 1993, which is more than 2/3 of my life, but I'm not on here much.  I cannot be the minority there.

One would like to think with things like these, you're on an even playing field.  Like the old NY Lottery commercials "all you need is a dollar and a dream."  I'd hope that everyone has an equal chance at something awesome. This bag cost me close to $120, which is not an insignificant amount of money.  THIS is my treat to myself this year.   If it's rigged in favor of others that means mine and every other regular person out there has a higher chance of a foam finger and a deep t shirt.  

I was lucky enough to be able to buy a bag, and I'm grateful for that, but I'm not gonna lie. The prospect of it being skewed really rained on my parade, and I was really really enjoying the suspense and cheering everyone on as I waited my turn. I'm a nobody here but as Charlie Bucket said, "I've got the same chances as anybody else, haven't I?"

It's not skewed and you did/do have the same chance as anyone else.

I think we all do have a chance at getting something really cool. I do also believe that they specifically put special things in for some people. I don't think anyone can deny it wasn't a coincidence that the person who started the Benny reissue thread got a Benny. Don't let it rain on your parade. I've received super meh mystery packages and amazing ones. I got an AP poster for a Fenway show I flew out to and was so happy. I doubt they knew how much I wanted it or even knew who I was. One of my first mystery packages I got colored vinyl version of PJ20 and I was pretty new to the boards, but not new as a fan. Have fun in the anticipation and hopefully fun in the reveal. I don't buy a lottery ticket thinking I am going to win. I buy it to sit and dream about how I would be able to change the lives of my family and friends if I won.
