There is no way Pearl Jam is playing stadiums in North America other than the cities they’ve already done it.
Foo Fighters, Green Day, Chilli Peppers and Metallica all have way more casual fans and appeal to casual music fans.  Each of them have 2-4X the number of followers on Instagram than PJ does.

PJ is more like Phish; they have fans that go to every show which allows them to do multiple nights in arenas.

The PJ  stadium run in 2018 was careful strategized; they hadn’t toured in two years and only played four cities in the US.  All shows were on or around weekends, and there was no sign of them playing shows any time soon after that.  And even then, there were lots of tickets dropped for each show 3-4 days beforehand.

If PJ could do a stadium tour, they would have done it already.

I couldn't agree more with Green Day having way more casual fans. There's a fuckton of younger people out there who think "Green Day is punk/emo" and probably because of the way the band members look. They're the same people who think Avril Lavinge and Good Charlotte are punk.

Green Day hasn't been punk since Dookie and there's fans of real punk out there who would disagree with that statement as they'd think Dookie was when they sold out.

Pearl Jam did very well in Aus and Nz. They coulda went to Perth and had two more sellouts, Brisbane, Adelaide. Pearl Jam does very well in South America, as well. Pearl Jam isnt really into stadiums, are they? Its never been their thing, really. It doesnt mean they cant play them, they just do a mix of arena, stadium, and other outside shows. They probably cant marry the carbon output with 25 stadium shows vs the offset, or some nonsense like that.
I would take 2018, as an example. Those 7 stadium shows sold out instantly. Now, if they added two at Citifield, two at Citizens Bank, two in Florida, two in Texas, Atlanta, Cinci, LA, Detroit, Phoenix, etc etc,  they could’ve and would’ve sold out 20-25 ball parks. You know they would have, easy.  Pearl Jam are a HUGE American band.
Aa far as Europe goes, i believe they could do a 20 date stadium tour. I asked this question a few pages ago. Take Krakow. In 2018 and 2022, they sold it out completely, including behind the stage. That puts it around 22,000, as stated for the arena capacity. Now, if it was sold out at 22,000, how many other people mightve been shut out?  10K? 20K? Or, 228?
Would another 20k plus show up to a stadium show? Fook yaaaaaaaa. Why would people think a band, that sells out stadiums on every other continent, NOT be able to play stadiums in Europe?

If they ever got as pathetic as a lot of bands out there (Green Day), they could call it the TEN, VS, and VITALOGY only tour, and really pack them in.

My prediction is that they bring Krusen back and play a tour with 2 dates in each city, maybe Stadiums?  At one of the 2 shows, they will play Ten in its entirety to celebrate its anniversary, or they will play the entire album over the course of 2 shows.  Maybe they will do it like Metallica did on their last tour and keep the setlists unique each night?

PJ set list are already unique each night. Metallica set list are not that unique. They play the same 40-50 songs.

They're unique in the fact the band sits down each afternoon and decides what to play.

Metallica's are unique in the fact that they guarantee no repeats.

Why Pearl Jam repeats songs each night is anyone's guess. If they repeat just 4-5 songs each night (Even Flow, Wreckage, Dark Matter, Scared of Fear, React/Respond), that's 20% or so of the show. I also don't think anyone wants Pearl Jam to carbon copy their shows each night so if you have a N2 ticket you basically know what that eighth song is going to be.

Even Flow into Dark Matter into React Respond into Worldwide Suicide into Corduroy for the 10th time that tour would be stale...but it might lead to fans being able to get tickets a lot easier. I'd imagine carbon copy setlists would lead to fewer fans traveling the world to chase their white whale.

Metallica has only been doing this for a couple years. Before that they mostly played the same show over and over. This last tour WAS the Dark Matter tour, you would expect them to play the album. And thats what they did.

Pearl Jam doesnt have 10,000 fans that travel along with them, like some people think.  IF some hardcore fans were so butt-hurt about similar setlists that they refused to travel anymore, that wouldn’t make a difference in the slightest.

I was able to guess 18 songs for the Atlanta 2 show.   I wouldn't have guessed nearly that many for the remaining night 2's though on the tour.  Only time I've actually sat down to try to predict a setlist.

Bro! I offered you a birthday beer last year.

We had such a great time getting out to Raleigh and Pittsburgh. Visiting the New cities. Meeting some new people at the prebparties. I really hope we get some information somewhat soon!
    I gladly enjoyed that beer
It would have been nice if you and Chris got there on time.

Maybe, but it might cut down on the #of people going to two shows in one city (or city near by).

  • Personally I think we hear rumblings in December about drummer and rumors. March I think we get an announcement of some sort. By this time
next year I believe we will be at a few shows somewhere in the world. It’s sad it’s September and we’re not traveling somewhere to see the full band; feels weird. Can’t believe 9/11 msg was 3 years ago. United center was 2 years ago. Crazy.

That’s what I’ve been holding out for and why I skipped Europe in 2024 (thankfully). Any arena show in SA and I’m there

Couldn’t agree more about Chicago N2. Definitely one of my favorites post-pandemic. The whole part of the show starting with Tremor Christ until the end of the main set was straight 🔥 Really happy I made it to that one!
