I agree they were between a rock and a hard place and short of someone stepping in way earlier, the way it went down was the best approach.
I mean, theres a 100 little things that made the election shake out the way it did. Its annoying when posters put all the blame on 1 or 2 things only and not see the bigger picture.
There’s no getting through to stupid. See FEMA hurricane relief for North Carolina as an example. The average repub and indie voter isn’t paying enough attention nor cares enough about whose policies are benefiting them. They won’t come out of their stupor until they feel the pain of their vote. It’ll take a generation, maybe two but I don’t expect to see a dem POTUS or senate for two, maybe three election cycles. Enjoy the cruelty.
I think a lot of this was done because they were caught in a bad situation and thought they could lie their way out. Incorrectly.
Biden was elected, said he’d run once. Midway through the term, he ages quite visibly. Do they impeach him? ‘That’s a bad look, let him stay, we’ll shelter him and he’s got smart folks around him’ Some time passes. ‘Uh, guys, he wants to run for re-election anyways.’ ’Well, if we don’t let the incumbent candidate run again, we’ll lose our advantage and people will stop believing the lie, which will tank our credibility and we’ll lose the election. What the hell do we do, guys?’
Does anyone that talks about Trump's 8/15/17 press conference where he said, "you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides."
also know that he said moments later:
"And you had people -- and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists -- because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.
Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people. But you also had troublemakers, and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets, and with the baseball bats. You had a lot of bad people in the other group."

Well if you are part of a large group that includes neo Nazis and you aren't kicking them out, that kind of makes you a neo Nazis.

You realize that he believes what he said with the “very fine people on both sides” and that the rest of his word salad was him realizing how bad that sounded and wouldn’t go over well. So out came the accordion hands and bullshit.

You can’t impeach a president for being old.
Sorry - to clarify, I meant that he had mentally aged. And not like fine wine.

I knew the full transcript at the time, and it doesn’t help Trump’s case at all. The thought of even saying “fine people” wouldn’t even cross the mind of a non-bigot in that situation. Secondly, he referred to the fine people who were there to protest the removal of a symbol of racism and slavery. They were installed across the South to remind blacks to “stay in their place”. So no, still not fine people in the group.

and yes, I'm willing to hear actual expert opinion on Biden as well. Not just randos on the internet.
I thought we were all concerned about this by halfway through his first term. Obviously it would just be worse now, and it's really evident with just about every single thing he does or says. Why most, including the media, seem to just be ignoring it is way beyond me.

It's because the bar for him is set so very low. If he doesn't soil himself and fling feces in the Oval Office, then it's just another day ending in Y, nothing to see here. His Memorial Day message to the country is... something else. Again.
In the hotel where we were staying the other day, one of the TVs in the lounge was set, to my surprise, to the BBC. As I passed that TV throughout the day, I saw only two stories being covered: 1) the ongoing crisis in Gaza, and 2) "T---p ambushes Ramaphosa in White House" (that was the wording they used). I thought it was pretty clear that the BBC knows what's going on. [I also think it's pretty clear that he thinks "Africa" is a single country, but that's just my opinion.]
I'm a language geek, and translating/interpreting is a particular interest of mine. When I listen to our current President speak, I wonder how translators are grappling with his word salad: do they try to extract a meaning/ message from what he says, or do they remain faithful to the original verbiage and try to convey that in another language? My head hurts just thinking about that.
If there was a coverup of Biden's condition, then, yes, that also needs to be investigated/discussed. -- Although, as Sarah Longwell of the Bulwark said the other day, if there was a coverup it was the worst one ever, since we all could see what was happening. His physical decline was obvious, but I admit that I was reluctant to believe that there was much cognitive decline, especially since Biden always struggled with public speaking.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

honestly, halfway through his first term I was skeptical. I often came to his defense (on this issue, and this issue alone) as I thought there was more pressing matters, and people were just looking for reasons to use the 25th. He always seemed to be very jumbled in that he just goes from one thought to another halfway through the first. Some people are just like that. And I'm no expert. His mispronunciations were, by some claims, a result of his supposed Adderall addiction. Which seemed to make sense. I mean, he's a fucking idiot. But I didn't think he had dementia. Now I'm not so sure.

Pardoning the Chrisly's. Now that's the kind of leadership this nation needs. Release tax cheats/bank frauds. They're right up his alley, not filing tax returns for years while earning millions from reality TV.

It's just disgusting. He's right though, people voted for this. He's done it for years and people still elected him so he knows none of it actually hurts him or the Republicans politically. It's why everything is so blatantly out in the open now. There hasn't been and will be no consequence for any of it. Congress and Senate Republicans turn a blind eye and the only legal challenges to his corruption have been wiped out with the now overly weaponized DOJ.
