    For the fourth time, the Trump administration has called off a scheduled meeting of one of the nation’s most influential public health advisory panels. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which normally meets three times a year, has not held an in-person meeting since March 2025.

    The independent panel reviews the latest medical research to determine which screenings, medications, and preventive services are most effective at reducing the risk of illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, and HIV. Its recommendations shape the standard of preventive care across the country and determine what many health insurance plans are required to cover for millions of Americans.
