Pins for tomorrow's 05/08 show are orange but one of the pins I got today is grey.  Is this just a manufacturing defect or are these an intentional varient? If they're intentional, how rare are they?
I've seen variant buttons and stickers before in the past few years. Never gotten one. Not sure how rare, but that's a cool score. Congrats!
Back in 2014 when the variant pins commenced, the merch desks would empty the bags of pins out and sift through them to find the purple ones. They were extremely hard to locate, and extremely rare - back then there were 25 per show and on some occasions they were all in one bag and not mixed into the ones around the concourses within the venue so it was a case of making sure you were at the main merch desk.

I saw one on pjbay a few days ago from Chicago whereby the seller indicates he was told it was one of ten made.

It was one of the reasons I quite collecting the pins. My ridiculous brain which needs things to be complete couldnt cope with missing the odd one here and there
I heard there were bootleg versions of the pins, so I stopped trusting anything on Ebay.  I stopped collecting in part  for this reason.
    Hmmmmmmmm

To clarify, I have purchased some variant stickers on eBay but never been lucky enough to randomly been given one at a merch booth.  Here’s some from Fenway last year with variants on the left.

That looks like a printing ink error.

There were.  I saw them and made a stink about them.  I was told to go F myself.  I was having none of that.  There was a version that said "fanmade" on them so what was the fuss?  I said the fuss is someone other than you is going to end up making them and passing off fakes for the real thing.  It's a reason why I studied stickers and know what to look for and the reason I never cared for the variant pins.

Agreed wouldn't a "variant" have a different color than no color ( yes I know technically still a variant  lol )?  its like the Borgata posters when they ran out of pink ink.

Could be a printing error and no idea what counts as a variant or not, but that's what I'm considering it although others may disagree.

Since someone asked about buttons/pins - here are some different one's I recall people posting back from 2023 - no idea if variant or not.

These are a variant.  The colors are flipped.  Those stickers are clearly missing a color which I would call an error.

Other variant pins had the big corporation fonts saying Pearl Jam.

I might be a little guilty of this at one time...
    But
When you ask someone to get something for you, you are taking it from someone that had been waiting on line while you were sitting on your butt nice and comfy somewhere.

I had a bud ask me to get him something and I bitched him out. He was like 'wow! I didn't know all these rules!' He probably hates me

why wouldn’t you help your friend out? Unless he never puts in time and always mooches, always help a friend

I think he’s just making a larger ethical point about people who are actually at a show that miss out on stuff because people buy multiples for people who are not at the show.

Yeah. We were going to the same show and I felt like he was being lazy. I just feel like if I pick up extra stuff the people behind me waiting won't get it and my bud would make out by doing nothing.
    Maybe I'm a minority d-bag!
Ironically he beat me to the merch line and scored when I ran around line to line to score.

Whatever. Fun stuff and I'm out of the game

It’s definitely a thin line.  Most people, myself included, are like… I’m just trying to help one or two people out who are trying to collect a run of stickers or pins.  But when there a ton of people doing the same thing, you can see why stuff runs out so quick.

We were walking back to the hotel from Third Man and a stop by the Old Smokey moonshine distillery. We had to go past the arena so I checked out the line around 2. We waited in line and got a poster after about a 30 to 40 minute wait. Got back the hotel just in time to avoid the rain.

I really don't care much now anyway. Cool stuff though. Have a blast all!!!

Shout out to random guy, who was buying his merch, and was kind enough to purchase me a dad hat after waiting in line two hours yesterday only to be told they didn’t have them.  Allowed me to skip another hour + wait in line.  20 karma points for you, sir!

Yeah like when me and my friend waited for hours in the Baltimore line and one frequent contributor to this forum walked away with 3 skate decks and they were gone by our turn.

I was in that line and also didn’t get a deck. And was one of the many people giving those three-deck asshats the stink eye.

7pm by far shortest line I’ve ever seen at a show.  2 minute wait.  No show shirt though.  Was told good luck getting one 😂

It's time to make certain show specific merch items available to all active Ten Club members online.  Overproduce the shit out of what PJ knows Ten Club members would want to buy as a keepsake for their shows...including shirts, tokens, license plates, posters, and stickers.  Who the F cares about 'limited edition' appeal?  Get the flippers out of the game.  It sucks I went to two shows and showed up very early and still got shut out of all of the above mentioned items.  The only way I can get them now is by paying over 3x their value to a-holes online.  Bad form.

I'm going to be a rebel and hate both the players AND the game!
That said, I'm keeping my merch expectations low and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.
At the end of the day, I get to see a band I love still playing live after 30 years. To me, that's what really matters.

    Hail yes. :)

Seeing them live is the best part; whatever I can walk away with merch-wise is a bonus.

I have missed out on a poster or 2 in my time, but those were great shows.
