I hope this has to do with the political climate and not the ghost of a stroke I had 10 years ago haunting me, but . . .

Is anyone else feeling scattered? I usually feel a little scattered in December, but there have been a couple of things I forgot this month that are making me wonder if there is an issue.

Does anyone else have a brain that is lucid and sunshine, or is anyone else feeling a little scattered?

Winter is a time for the blues too and I'm finding it helpful to avoid being online more at this time. Online throws a lot at us very quickly and it can feel overwhelming to absorb and think about it all. Big hugs....I don't think you're alone.

This post may belong more in All Encompassing Trip...we'll see how it goes. Don't feel badly if it's moved. :)

Sorry to hear about your feeling scattered and your stroke. 🙏

There is a lot going on with politics, news and social media. Just a LOT of information and misinformation to wade through. Families and friendships and overloaded schedules and expectations.

I wish you peace and that these feelings lessen in the coming weeks.

Sorry to hear but in times like these I don’t see how anyone can stay on course! I know you like to cook I find that the kitchen has helped me to just think about the goodness and pleasure I get out of cooking food! Hope you feel better soon

I'm very sorry to hear you are feeling scattered Ms. Haiku.  I trust you have already thought to check with your doctor to make sure all is OK.  And I certainly hope so.

Being a little scattered at my age is not uncommon, but I think it's very normal that most of us are stressing.  I really went in deep with the news and reading current events Monday and Tuesday, and communicating and writing, and by today I definitely felt the affect it had on me.  It was too much.  So my wife and I took most of the day off to get out and do some distracting (what I would normally call "enjoyable") things like going to a few thrift stores, checking out some creeks in the area that got much needed rain, and getting pastries to eat.  The morning was rough- I really felt damaged and it took most of the day for me to start feeling like myself.  That was a good reminder to take time to refresh.

We are in a situation that is intentionally orchestrated to cause widespread stress and fear.  Several of the threats get retracted.  It's a nasty game.  Try to keep some perspective and some distance, and try not to let things you can't control take over.  It's a good time to learn one's limits.  Only do what you can reasonably do.  As a friend of mine used to say, "Pace, pace, pace."  And take/make time to enjoy life when possible.

Hang in there (everybody!).  It's just another 42 days until spring, a time of rejuvenation.

Thank you, everyone! I agree that this thread may be more appropriate for ECT.

I created some daily to-dos to help me manage the times. One is to listen to the entirety of two albums. This reduces the time I listen to political YouTube, which is good. However, I read two political daily newsletters so I'm aware of what is going on.

I love stickers. When I meet these goals I add stickers to my calendars.

A bit scattered. Almost pulled out into traffic the other day. Swore I looked and saw no cars.

Be careful and maybe once spring comes it will get better.
If you see a dr can't hurt to talk about it. :)

    PLEASE talk about it,

As much as you want or need,

    When or whoever.

    ***

A doctor, a friend, a stranger, the people in this forum, me.

Definitely talk to a doctor, just to make sure that nothing is amiss.

    Have you tried/considered therapy?

I think most people are currently feeling the same way. I don't know many that aren't. I envy those that aren't.

I am. Started long before November 5th, which only made it worse, as have the days/weeks/months since. Personally and professionally.

I deactivated my social media, which has helped tremendously. No more doom scrolling into the void, wandering aimlessly.

I was also lucky enough to have a heart attack 3 weeks ago.

Lucky in the literal sense that it was the best-case scenario, and I'll be okay.

Lucky in the figurative sense that now, I have something to be hyper-focused on. I got a second chance. Most people don't. I HAVE to capitalize on it. Nothing else matters.

Good luck to you, Ms. Haiku.
May your days be long, til kingdom come.

Thinking of you all in this thread today as I've been referred by a Dr to a mental health crisis team, I guess it can only help. I may not be on here as often at the moment as I didn't want to just bring down or bad vibes the whole time.

Oh my goodness! I hope you are feeling better! Unexpected hospital stays are scary, and 6 am blood draws are yucky.

I said this to myself often during all hard times the past 10+ years

"No matter how cold the winter there's a springtime ahead." (I remembered it as "No matter the winter there's a springtime ahead.")

I made an appointment to speak with someone.
