Bump! I say we have a Yield birthday month instead of just one day in honor of my favorite release. IMO it felt like Yield unofficially ushered out the grunge movement much like grunge killed hair metal. Yield was the band older, more mature, less angry and finding their new voice for the years to come. If Dark Matter turns out to be their final opus they can hold their heads high! Cheers to Yield.

Ten will always be my favourite ever album but the sentimentality of Yield as it was the album they were  touring when I first saw them brings it to first equal. Would have loved to have seen all of it live-am missing No Way, Pilate and PMPM, and I don't spin it as much now, but if any of it is on and I'm fully engaged with it I remember just how seriously fucking good it is.

I remember going to Best Buy to buy the cd as soon as they opened.  This was the first tour I went to multiple shows.  Of any band.  Chicago, STL, Dallas, Meadowlands, MSG x 2, Merriweather, DC.  To be 21 again.
Same!  I hit up 8 shows that tour: tibetan freedom concert, la x 2, camden x 2, meadowlands and msg x 2.  I turned 21 that November....good times.  pretty sure you and I have really close fan club numbers (139XXX).
Damn.  That’s pretty cool.  November 7 is my bday.  135xxx is my membership number.

I love Yield.  I didn't full understand or appreciate No Code when it first came out and drifted a while.  Yield was different.  Given To Fly was a kickass first single. I bought it immediate spun the shit out GTF/Pilate/Leatherman.   I lived in a smaller town so the local record stores weren't great and didn't get albums on release day.  I asked a coworker who commuted in to grab me a copy.

I'd only ever seen PJ at Lolla in my early/mid teen's, so a powerful but short afternoon set.  Missoula was my first real Pearl Jam show.  It sucked me right in.   We ended up doing Missoula because we weren't sure if we'd back in time for our local Vancouver show.   I was doing a cross Canada Trip with one of my best friends, so my insurance plan was to cheat for a few days and drive south of Calgary to Missoula.  Show was amazing and hooked me right in.  We made it back 2 days before the Vancouver show and hung out in Kamloops for a few days, then scored amazing size stage tickets when they were announce on the radio near Hope (where the filmed Rambo).   Then I got back from trip, was maybe home 2 days, and I go to my brother, hey you want to go Seattle? And we race down for the second Seattle show and got there about 5 minutes before PJ started to play.

So many good memories of Yield and the tour.   I'm never 100% sure what my favourite PJ album is, but Yield is usually at the top of the list.

It was also my gateway to No Code.  After listening to Yield, I also fell in love with No Code, so it was all win.

An incredible album. My local HMV record had a few cool promo items for it's release. Man, do I miss those days. Much Music & HMV had a contest to see Pearl Jam in Phoenix. There were Pearl Jam Yield sign banners, posters, stickers, an interview CD, HMV / Yield worker tags etc..  The team that worked on advertising & promoting Yield, did a hell of a job.

    Me too!
Luckily I had 2, because I left one on the rental car key ring while traveling to PJ shows. I realized it before I boarded my plane home, and called the rental counter. It never turned up despite many communications.
I hope someone enjoyed it as much as I did!
The remaining one doesn't leave home.
If I had a spare, I would use it.

Anyone remember the CD packaging having a distinctive smell?

I know it sounds weird and trust me shoving my nose into album booklets isn't the first thing I do when I give new albums a spin but...yeah it smelled different.

Still remember buying this cd at Kingsway Garden Mall in Edmonton when I was thirteen years old. Tracks 1-3 are the best!!!! Loved the packaging so much as well back then.
