Silly me, but is Spatial the same as a 5.1 channel mix?

Will this only be released via the PJ store or will it be available through retailers?

At that price with just $7 shipping to Canada, I'm ordering it from the artist's store. Glad to see Dark Matter's CD/BD set sold well enough to test the Blu-ray waters with a catalogue title.

With Dolby Atmos there is a 7.1 bed,  so if you're playing on a 5.1 system the 7.1 track will be played back with surround rear left into surround left and rear surround right into surround right. If you're playing on a Dolby Atmos system, the Atmos metadata has instructions on which sounds to REMOVE from the 7.1 mix and place into the full Atmos soundfield based on what your Atmos speaker set-up is. So there isn't a "channel" mix for Atmos, but the 7.1 bed contains all the sounds you would hear in a 15-speaker Atmos system.

I do prefer when they include a dedicated 5.1 mix on the Blu-ray like Steven Wilson and Bob Clearmountain often do, but the experience on a 5.1 system playing the Dolby Atmos track should be excellent. And the bonus is, unlike 5.1 mixes which in the 2000s still saw lots of dynamic range compression, Atmos mixes are fully dynamic and will sound better the louder you crank it

I wish they put the Vs. Atmos mix on the same disc.

Surely this Vitalogy bluray will be released to retailers worldwide  🤞
I bet they wish they never released the vs/vitalogy boxset and they were releasing it now. 🤣

FWIW, the Single Video Theory Blu-Ray description has "10 Club Exclusive" and this does not.

I'm not sure. Haven't seen any pre orders outside the 10Club or UPC codes for this release yet.

Very cheap to ship to Canada. Just hope the Canada Post strike ends soon.

That would of been cool release. Maybe VMP will do something soon for Vitalogy, like they did for Yield.

The description says Spatial Audio, not Atmos. With many audio releases getting Atmos mixes, it's a shame they couldn't do the same for this Vitalogy release.

Dolby Atmos comes under the umbrella of Spatial Audio along with dts:X and R360. On Blu-ray Dolby Atmos is lossless (TrueHD/Atmos) as is dts:X. R360 is lossy and only found on streaming platforms.

This is a Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos, the inferior lossy version (DD+JOC) is already available on
Apple. What did you think the Blu-ray was going to come with?

I'm thinking it will probably be a cardboard sleeve like Single Video Theory too which is exclusive.  Nothing fancy, but I could be wrong.
