Question for MAGA supporters

In her letter yesterday, Heather Cox Richardson wrote:
"Gaetz’s withdrawal turns attention to Trump’s pick for secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth....  Jonathan Chait of The Atlantic did a deep dive into Hegseth’s recent books and concluded that Hegseth “considers himself to be at war with basically everybody to Trump’s left, and it is by no means clear that he means war metaphorically.” Hegseth’s books suggest he thinks that everything that does not support the MAGA worldview is “Marxist,” including voters choosing Democrats at the voting booth. He calls for the “categorical defeat of the Left” and says that without its “utter annihilation,” “America cannot, and will not, survive.”

So my question for our MAGA member here is this:  Are you OK with the idea of having the U.S. military to literally (not metaphorically) come gunning for those who did not vote for Trump?

Well, it's true, I did say I was going to back off from this place some.
But honestly, I'm not trying to provoke any kind of ongoing pointless argument with anyone on this.  I'm simply posing the question based on a reality (anyone in doubt can fact check using the citations Heather posted).  I think it's something Trump supporters and others should be aware of, and a question they should consider.  MAGA, are you OK with having your Uncle Mac or Aunt May gunned down simply because of who they voted for?  This is not an argument.  It's just a question.  I don't really have anything more or any need to say anything more on the matter.

You are asking a question of MAGA...that is by definition pointless

No, I wasn't inferring you were trying to provoke anything. Obviously you don't do that. I just mean this will just lead to more frustration. I know you are doing your damndest to try to understand these folks, but I don't know if you ever truly will. Just my $.02. But keep trying if you wish! Darwinspeed!

    "Darwinspeed" haha!  Love it.
No, I'm working toward a more level space in my head.  I don't have enough time left in this life to give it all away to angst.  I went through that after the election, and now I'm focusing more on other things- my writing, music, and, WOW!, tomorrow, my 20th wedding anniversary!  Man, the years they do fly!

So  seriously, it's just a question that came to mind when reading Heather last night.  And maybe one of our MAGA supporters will consider it as serious enough to come to the conclusion that not everything MAGA is what it seems or is great. That's up to them.  I just think my question might be one they hadn't considered.

So that's it for me on this subject.  I've got presents to wrap.  20 years, 20 little presents.  Can't wait to see the look on her face!

I don't think its a surprise that I'm to the right of 90% of the folks here, but I'm not maga.
But I can answer your question.
I keep hearing the right is the party of fear. They scare you into voting a certain way. And I don't disagree with that. But I would also say that's just politics in general. Many elections are about vote for this guy or else....
So much of the Harris campaign, and even Biden before he dropped, was "vote for democracy." And trying to convince people if trump wins, that will be the end of democracy for America. I mean, that's about the most extreme example of scare politics I've seen. There are many other examples of how this country will end, etc. And there isn't a lot of guarantees in life, but I do guarantee in 4 years we will have an election and trump won't be on the ticket.
This is another example. Nobody is okay with anyone gunning down people who vote against their candidate. I'm not too familiar with Hegseth, I've heard his name more times in the last week than I have my entire life. And he very well may cal the left a Marxist, and said democrats need to be defeated to save America. But I am pretty confident in saying, without even have read his book, that he does not cal for the literal gunning for anyone. based on how they vote. And people in the media who promote that are part of that political fear strategy. And I can assure you that people are not wanting to gunning for anyone on the basis of how they voted.

Just to repeat what I said:  I'm not torturing myself over this, I'm not going to engage in pointless arguing, and I'm not angry at anyone here.  I just hope some of you will consider the question and answer for yourself.

it's not fear mongering if the past behaviour points directly to that possibility.

Are both sides the same though? I don’t recall Harris making a lot of fear based statement, but maybe I missed them. Trump does this all the time and nearly every republican has been for decades.

Do you believe that democracy is over in America and that there will not be another election then? If you believe that, then I will just say I disagree.
If you don't believe that, then isn't campaigning on that a scare tactic?

it's not about if it's over or not at this very moment. it's about the potential. it's also not just about the next election. it's about having balance and sensibility. stacking the supreme court with partisan judges is not what they had in mind. the founders, as I understand it, framed a lot of the language around the people in charge understanding norms and traditions and balance. One party to rule them all wasn't part of that. And no well-informed democrat wants that. There are plenty of R's/magas who are inciting their constituents to believe that liberalism is a disease. you see it daily from the trump kids, on fox news, online, you see it here on this very forum.

We’ll still have elections. My question was how much was Harris talking about the end of our country and other various doomsday scenarios vs how much Trump  was. A lot of these bothsides claims seem to falsely attribute people with democrat politicians. Joy Behar wasn’t running for office, but based on the rights reaction, she was fully representing the party with every dramatic statement.

I won't argue that trump had more doomsday talk.  He did. But there was still that message of "vote Kamala or democracy is over" that came from the official campaign too. Wasn't the "vote to save democracy" slogan part of her campaign? I'm pretty sure I recall seeing that in official ads and commercials, not just The View.

I'm not here to defend trump. I think he's handled a lot of things terribly and he sounds like an idiot more often than not. I'm just saying I don't think it's all doom and gloom that I see here. There will still be free elections and the government won't be gunning for citizens because they voted democrat.

The only military action this party may use on its citizens is asking that the Army Corp of Engineers build a bunch of crying rooms for those who cannot handle the results of the election and/or wish the country to fail.

I wonder if these delusions are even considered after watching the last administration use the DOJ to attack its political opponents like a communist regime.

What a crazy question to ask?!?!

Stop spreading fear.  Your question is ridiculous.

Stephen K. Bannon is a patriot 🇺🇸 and he’s going to help expose these criminals in our govt masquerading as politicians or as unelected bureaucrats.  That’s why you see all these over top reactions out of Washington to Trump cabinet nominations for example.  They’re scared shitless and they know truth & justice is coming.
