Re: Ohana My Room at the Hilton Garden Inn was Cancelled for 2025

I received an email from the front desk manager as follows:

"Dear Joe,

We regret to inform you that the reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn Dana Point – Doheny Beach on September 2025 will be canceled due to system errors at the time of booking. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Although the Hilton Garden Inn Dana Point – Doheny Beach is not currently accepting any new reservations, we are holding a room for you until November 25, 2024, should you wish to rebook your reservation. The rates will start at $700 for our standard king rooms and will differ for different room types and dates. To rebook your reservation, please respond to me directly or to one of our front desk supervisors. We will require an initial deposit of the entire room and tax amount to hold this reservation."

Seems a bit shady that they wouldn't just reassign me to a new room at the same price at which I originally booked.  I am still waiting for a response.

Perhaps a call to the corporate offices, or maybe to Paris Hilton, will be in order if they don't honor my original rate.  Mistakes happen, but in this situation, you think they'd remedy the mistake.

My interpretation:

Dear Joe, you were smart and booked a good rate before we got around to jacking the rates.  Because you were smarter than us we are going to cancel your reservation.  We may or may not be entitled to do so but what are you going to do, sue us?

I went through this with a B&B once. I would fight it like hell. Take it up the corporate ladder. The system error excuse is obviously bullshit.

I agree….I am usually able to prevail in consumer situations so hopefully it works out.

You'll make your 💰💰💰💰 with new reservations, which you haven't accepted yet, but you accepted mine which makes it not a new reservation.

You're a $60B corporation. My previous reservation rate will not be a blip on that figure.
