"Listen boss, I learned one thing at Harvard.  There's one thing wrong with always fighting for freedom, and justice , and decency.  And so forth."
Burns looks up at the blazing sky.  "Only one thing?  What's that?"
    "You almost always lose."
The old man laughs, reaches out, and squeezes Sam's near arm.  "Well, hellfire, Sam, what does that have to do with it?"

there is something to be said about treating the root cause, not just the symptoms, the latter being a cornerstone of western medicine for ages. the quick fixes like ozempic for weight loss. how about we throw money at basic food prep education in school? bring back mandatory phys ed class. stricter food quality standards so places like mcdonald's can't sell the garbage they sell.
    Nothing wrong with those steps.

We can easily avoid the fast food traps if we desire. Noone is forcing us to eat there. If anything is guilty, it's our busy capitalism lives tempting us to cut corners on diet and exercise. Good luck to the republicans believing their party will help us out of these traps.

We all know to exercise and eat right, yet we all probably know seemingly healthy people getting horrible diseases at too young ages. Metabolics helps, but we still need a robust healthcare system including pharma. There is just no magic bullet when it comes to something so difficult to predict as our health.
  • yes, I wasn't commenting directly about metabolics. I don't know anything about that subject.

It's basically good diet and exercise. I mentioned in another post this doctor on Bill Maher went at length on the topic

The problem with exercise and healthy eating comes down to who one is getting this advice from. My wife works in public health and runs her own strength training classes, so I hear about this all the time.

What’s healthy? What’s the best way to obtain physical exercise? Is it cardio, weightlifting, yoga, or general movement? What is a healthy diet? Should I eat fats, or not? How many calories/carbs should I have? The answer: It depends on a variety of factors. There is no one answer for all.

I can say if your only source of exercise is playing golf with a cart, and you’re prone to drink a dozen diet cokes a day and eat hamburders 5 days out of the week… probably not the best. (Full disclosure I love McDonalds breakfast burritos and quarter pounders, but like once a month. It’s a treat.)

Yeah the food pyramid has been around forever. Doctors can't make people eat better.

So we’re getting a repeat if 2016 where Trump inherited a healthy economy and he declared it was horrible and his followers believed it.

    DINING

McDonald's McRib is coming back for 2024. Here's when and how to locate it near you

In less than two months, a beloved — by some — fast food menu item will return once again.

McDonald's McRib will hit restaurants in the "greater Ozarks area" on Wednesday, Nov. 27, a McDonald's spokesperson told the News-Leader on Wednesday.

The McRib features five key ingredients: a boneless pork patty, pickle slices, onions, a homestyle bun and McRib Sauce, which is flavored with "natural smoke flavor," "spices," onion and garlic powders, chili pepper and beet powder (which are among other ingredients), according to the McDonald's website. As for the pork patty, the McDonald's website boasts that it only features four ingredients: pork, water, dextrose (sugar that comes from corn or wheat) and rosemary extract.

of course we are. Thats why conservative media has been running stories about the economy being great as a response to the election rather than pointing out that it’s been great for over a year.

And all the dopes here will conveniently forget we’ve been saying it all summer.

Just like “Make America Healthy Again.” I wandered onto Facebook for two minutes today to see some of my MAGA relatives going on about MAHA. Needless to say they are multi-pack-a-day smokers, regularly posting pictures of the cocktails they’re having, and overweight. But at least they won’t “go to jail” for having raw milk…

Remember Steve Miller's song "Living in the U.S.A." where toward the end Miller yells, "Somebody give me a CHEESEburger"?
Updated version:  "Somebody give me a SHITburger! Livin' in the U.S.A... doot doo doo do do doot doooo..."

It’s been pretty quiet, no responses. Maybe they’re all in Ohio expressing their freedom of speech and making their hero proud.
