Green Day banned from Las Vegas radio stations after trashing city on stage

Punk trio Green Day has been banned from two Las Vegas radio stations after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong trashed the city on stage.

While performing at San Francisco’s Oracle Park in late September, Armstrong made remarks in reference to the nearby Oakland A’s baseball team leaving for Las Vegas.

“We don’t take s— from people like f—ing John Fisher,” he said, before going on to say, “I hate Las Vegas. It’s the worst s—hole in America.”

While Armstrong’s remarks about A’s owner John Fisher would likely find sympathetic ears around the Bay Area this week, the remarks about the team’s proposed new home seemingly didn’t go over too well in Vegas.

Well, I guess I'm biased.

A)  I love these guys.
B) I lived the first 11 month of my life in the town where they got their start (Albany, CA).
C)  It's an absolute shame to see the A's getting moved from Oakland to... well...
D)  Billie Joe is right.  "...Las Vegas. It’s the worst s—hole in America.”

And look, haha!  I typed "B" and then ")"  and it made a smile with shades.  OK, I'm cool with that.

No love for the A's ownership but it's laughable to deliver that rant from a stage at Oracle Park. Vegas did nothing wrong but welcome a baseball team. Giants ownership did more to hasten the A's demise than any other external factor - if Billie Joe actually had any balls that's who he would have gone after. Douchebag.

It's such a rich old punk move to blast a city from 500 miles away and not say a peep about the bad guys within earshot

Wanna fight? Be careful, I might run out and kiss you.

Just joking.  That's a memory from a story I read about Paul Westerberg doing a promo gig at Amoeba Records in S.F.  Some dude was harassing Paul, so he ran out into the crowd and grabbed the guy and kissed him.
Then, a couple of years later, I went to see Paul Westerberg and His Only Friends at the Great American Music Hall in S.F.  At the beginning of the show, Paul ran out onto the stage and yelled, "Wanna fight?!"  Haha, it's all a punk thing.

Oh, and fuck Las Vegas.

Ha! I'm a very passionate baseball fan and the A's thing is super depressing. I get why people don't like Vegas but they're not the bad guy here!

I have to visit my dad in Vegas every now and then. I generally hate it there. Going to places like Evel Pie and the Griffin are my highlights.

I'm with you on baseball.  Love the game!  And yeah, the A's being moved sucks so big time.  Being a Bay Area kid, I started going to A's games in Oakland from the get-go.  Oh man, so many great memories.  I just hate it when a favorite team gets moved!

As for Vegas, meh, it's just another tragedy to me because I love the desert and I think all big desert cities pretty much suck, mainly because they tend to sprawl and eat up for fragile desert ecosystem.

The group buying the Coliseum is saying all the right things about having concerts there again, so there's at least some good news in this shit show. Whether they have the actual funds to buy the Coliseum is another matter. And the City of Oakland balancing their budget based on the sale of said Coliseum is pure lunacy.

I guess that's fine for those who live in Vegas or care to go there.
My own take is that I wouldn't go to see any band in Las Vegas if you gave me the ticket and paid my way 100%.

I was supposed to go to the PJ show in 22 that was cancelled. I was looking forward to checking it out in the short time I was going to be there. The only time I have been there was a layover at the airport one time. You have to love an airport with slot machines. 😀

The last time I got even close to Vegas, things got very strange.  I could see this massive glow off on the horizon and then something odd happened to my mind...

Timmies! When I went to the Hamilton and Toronto shows in 22, there was one walking distance from my AirBnB. It was my breakfast spot for the 3 days I was there. It is the coffee we use at home. They need to open stores in the Southern Indiana/Illinois area.
