All right, one (or two, or three) last thing (s) for me to add.
My favorite part, asides from seeing my favorite rock star duo, was EV mentioning how most songs start on a (cloth upgrade) napkin, explaining how he learned calligraphy as a time-passer on the road, and of course, likening song writing to riding a wave, in a most naturally beautifully poetic manner.
Yeah, I liked the cloth upgrade comment. Funny stuff.
And the vacuum silhouette.
Like Ed, my child has a -close to Christmas- birthday. Instead of combining gifts, (like hoping for an expensive $150 electric guitar) I buy her a piece of jewelry each year. This year she will pick out a belly button ring in Australia or New Zealand. I wonder if Ed and/or bandmates collect things like wine or art or jewelry everywhere they go...?
The British Columbia gov't recently raised the welfare rate for the accomodation portion of their cheque from $325 (which they held steady for three decades) to under $600 now. One bedroom rental rates are about the same as what the average Montana renter pays, $13xx
If my rent was was $1388 a month I would be in heaven. Try almost tripling that for me
Rent? Not mortgage? I have to ask, although I understand if you don't want to answer.
Where do you live? How big a rental unit? Rooms? Beds? Baths? Square footage?
I can answer - it is rent. I live in downtown Manhattan. Two very small bedrooms, one bath. Not sure of the square footage - but definitely not a huge apartment. Unfortunately, I am not rent stabilized - but according to some real estate pros I am still paying under market value for my apartment for my neighborhood. I know my landlord is renting out similar apartments in my building for over $4000/month. It is crazy. I have lived in my building for a long time, so I am under that. But still pretty expensive.
That beautiful, intelligent, self-supporting woman lives in NYC. I think it's okay to answer for her because this is public forum knowledge, as is her fabulous story of partying with the band, way back when, before the band went to a more private space!
Happy packing and I hope you have a wonderful first retirement vacation, SPEEDY!
Thanks, babe! I hope you have a fabulous time Down Under! Wish I could join you in November.

I lived in Turtle Bay (28th and 3rd) for 17 years. Once my rent hit $3500 for a two bedroom, it was time to buy a condo outside the city.
Good stuff. Didn’t like Eddie’s “wrong question haha” response if they still like being on the road. Not sure how many more big tours we can expect. Need to savor every chance we get to see them live.

Yes, it was very well done. It was cool hearing him say how he didn't see daylight for a couple weeks with that record. Personally, when Dark Matter came out, I loved floating around on the lake listening to it in nature.
I also appreciate him expressing a lack of fear regarding his own death.

If you fear it how can you enjoy life? Funny EV and I are the same age he grew up in Evanston myself in Chicago, both love sports, wine and utterly worship The Who! Strange 🌎...My favorite part was Jeff describing listening to the MommaSon tape and after the second listen he was like yeah Stone, Mike you need to come over ASAP...can you imagine after thinking their shot was over w/ Andy dying and here was this voice from the Gods saying take II🍷

I think they still enjoy playing shows, but dislike being away from their families. I agree though, I'm guessing 2025 will be one of the last big ones.

I am guessing the tours now are as much for the fans and the PJ crew and their families. I can’t imagine wanting to be on the road after all those years of doing it.

The tours (and the merch sold on tour) are how they make the lion's share of the money that pays the people in the Pearl Jam organization, including the crew.

How many TOTAL SHOWS has this band performed, IN THE USA, in the last 10 years combined? Total American shows for the last 10 years?
