Not sure what I was expecting but it was a lot more than that. Kinda disappointing.
Not much you can fit in in 8-9 minutes. Especially when we know most of that stuff. But the casual or non fan doesn't
The main thing a piece like this accomplishes is that it informs a lot of people that Pearl Jam still exists. I routinely have people from my generation, when I tell them I'm going to this city or that city to see Pearl Jam, express surprise that Pearl Jam is still together.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

It also beautifully showcased Jeff's et al.'s work in Montana.

Nice seeing the band. But I can’t stand these types of interviews/interview styles. And obviously at the same
    time too ”short” :)

These are always nice, but I hate that half of it is devoted to recapping the basic story. I get it, many who watch this may not know it and we aren’t the audience for it, but if you’re gonna take time to interview them, I’d like something a bit more in-depth.

Sometimes there’s longer cuts that come out later. Hopefully that’s the case here.

Agree. Nothing new here. The setlist list discussion was cool but other then that, nothing new. I did not realize Jeff was 61, that provides some perspective.
Oh what a horrible piece, I mean why inform and teach the diverse walks of life that make this show the best on TV.

Well documented that Jeff isn’t the biggest fan of touring. But, you wouldn’t know night in and night out. He usually seems to be having a blast.

btw, Ed just couldn’t resist a wave/surfing metaphor.

It’s reassuring to hear that they still believe magic happens when they get together. That’s a great sign 34 years in!

The 2-3 hours on stage is the highlight, it's not why musicians, or wrestlers struggle with tour.  It's the touring part of touring they struggle with.   Different city every day, never sleeping in your own bed, away from family, etc... Can't really be grounded when you're never in the same place.

Brian Johnson from AC/DC had a show that I think ran 2 seasons.  One episode was him and Lars from Metallica talking about the challenges for touring.  I think it was Lars who went into how complicated it got, where they setup a central hub in Paris, where all their families were at, then they'd fly to whatever show in Europe, then fly back to the hub, to have some consistency.

I guess musicians (or any career that involves being on the road) don't talk about it very openly, but when they complain about it, it's not the performing live for a couple hours that's the issue. It's everything that's not the 2 to 3 hours on stage.
  • When Ed said, "Wrong question." -- my guess is: Touring? No, being on the road sucks. Performing for the crowd? Absolutely.

I did not say it was horrible.

They often will release a longer version on Youtube

It sucks that the video is blocked in Canada & Australia but the rest of the world can view this clip? The other 2 Pearl Jam clips up on CBS Sunday Morning YouTube page (promo & Even Flow), we can view. But not the interview? :/

RE the touring question: There could be layers but I just took the answer as a reaction to what happened in Europe

Awesome to watch. Taking my 7yo to her third show at Ohana, and I think it's just dawning on her how big PJ are and were by seeing Eddie Vedder up close on TV. The same guy she watched from the stands back in May.

Super excited, she wants to try to get close to the stage on Friday 😊
Dressing in that super cute  homemade PJ t-shirt again?
Super that she wants to party by the stage! Good luck and have fun!

Now I understand why the camera was following Jeff around at the festival. I remember thinking “that interviewer looks very familiar.”
Yes, I was there, too. I didn’t recognize the interviewer, but the folks near me kept insisting it was Colbert! All I could say was, nope. Here’s a pic I took of them. It was a wonderful day at the festival all around.
