What Should They Do Before Hanging It Up?

As the discussion title says, what would you like to see this band do before riding off into the sunset?  They could finish this Dark Matter tour and ride off into the sunset and leave behind an amazing legacy: 12 studio albums, Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame induction, an album of b-sides/rarities, several DVDs, etc. etc.  What's on your wishlist?

Here's a few things I'd like to see...
  • AT LEAST 2 MORE STUDIO ALBUMS... With the way they recorded Dark Matter, it sounds like they could get into the studio with very little and turn it into an album.  Gigaton to Dark Matter was almost 4 years... ideally, it'd be great to see a new album every 2 to 3 (again, this is your individual wishlist)
  • DO A STUDIO RECORDING OF "OF THE EARTH"/PUT IT ON AN ALBUM... I think this song has a ton of potential on an album.  Hell, invite Jack White to trade solos with Mike like they did on the Third Man release.  Am I blanking, or is this the only Pearl Jam song that only exists as a live recording?  I think it could be an 8-minute track on an album with a long jam/solo
  • RELEASE LOST DOGS 2... There has to be enough lying around to do this, right?  Hell, there were a lot of notable tracks left off of the original ("Angel", "Olympic Platinum", "I've Got a Feeling", etc.)
  • RELEASE A COVERS ALBUM... Do a full album of in-studio covers.  "Driven To Tears", "Surrender", "Timeless Melody", "Gimme Some Truth"... there's a ton to choose from.  Would love to see a full album of covers with a great studio performance.
  • FINISH OFF THE BOX SETS... maybe this waits until retirement, but I would love to see this start back up where it left off (Vs. Vitalogy).  Next up, No Code / Yield (1996 - 1999) to represent the Jack Irons years... maybe everything after that has to include more than 2 albums, but they should finish what they started!

Lost Dogs 2 release with a Lost Dogs album tour where there’s at least 5-8 tunes from those albums played.

An acoustic sit down tour of large theaters.

    Another album with Neil

  • Who will be the band’s Jimmy Page? Vaults and Lost Dogs 2 to 15 could be released even after they do hang it up. So until then, focus should be on touring small/new places/venues. New album not even absolutely necessary at this point as Gigaton and Dark Matter haven’t even been digested yet.

Umm…don’t ever retire as long as they’re still happy to be out there creating and performing.
  • A few things that come to mind…

    - play Atlanta again and not in a festival
    - this was kind of mentioned already I think but an album of “guest” or duet songs. Being in friends to play either PJ’s catalog or a separate version where PJ brings in friends to cover their songs
    - The Rolling Stones have a fan vote for one song each show…PJ could do this for a deep cut every night
    - take up a residency somewhere if the touring gets too much…if you build it we will come

    Agree wholeheartedly with this ^^.
I don't think Mike or Ed ever want to stop performing. If all members enjoy it as much as demonstrated in this tour, I'm hopeful for quite a few years ahead!

Dream 1a:  Really would love to see a studio recorded acoustic album, produced by Andrew Watt and recorded in the same process as Dark Matter.  We have the Unplugged album, but that only includes songs from Ten.  The catalog has expanded greatly and so many songs would sound great as acoustic versions.  This album would be a double disc, and would include some new songs as well as covers.

    Dream 1b:
An acoustic tour.  Either combined acoustic + electric, or all acoustic.  We fans LOVE acoustic Pearl Jam!

Dream 2:  Special concerts that are catered to 10C, with deep cuts, rare gems, and extended set lists.  A celebration of Pearl Jam.  Similar to PJ20.  Pearl Jam Week 2025 shows would be at special locations, where fans would travel to them, so as to make it EASIER for the band to perform the extended sets.  Locations such as The Gorge, Philadelphia, London (Hyde Park), and more...

2nd the Atlanta show/s. Maybe another 2 nights at the Fabulous Fox Theatre???? Anywhere but State Farm arena or Lakewood. If there was a bigger venue in Athens,GA that would be a better dream but I think the biggest venues are 12k so don’t think that’s gonna work - unless it’s some super secret 10C squirrel show
