Awesome show and my son had a blast.  I need to listen to the boot but I think that was the best version of Black I’ve heard. That main set order/choices were fantastic.

I said the same thing about Black! That and DTE were standouts to me among the staple/regular songs.

I don't get the Philly superiority take. I think there is a lot of bias at play there.
Sometimes it’s definitely bias. But not with Philly 1. EV literally said during night 2 it was one of if not the best NA crowd they’ve played for.
  • Im from Philly and I thought the crowd was awesome but I may be biased being in GA. I was pretty much just staring down Mike, Jeff and Eddie. 😎🎸

Not stirring the pot it was just my take. There was no “yeah” chant during Alive that I recall. I started the daughter chant, absolutely no one partook except my friends. To say that crowd was comparable to msg or Philly is blasphemy lol. Also, GA didn’t look anywhere near as full as the other shows. I thought Philly 2 was 85% of Saturday and might have been the show I had most fun at out of 9 shows this year.
Again, band was incredible. Eddie sounds so good. Maybe I was spoiled this past week. Was hoping for another tour debut after Can’t Keep, but that open was great.
Side note, it was one of my best friends’ first show and yes he was wasted but he had an absolute blast and was blown away. I’ve taken 3 people in the past year to their first PJ shows and all three called their shows one of, if not the best concert they’ve ever seen.
Lived in NoVA for 15 years, my first time back in Baltimore since before covid….big ooooof

Were you at the Philadelphia shows? I’m not a Philly guy, so definitely not biased, but the crowd is just different in Philly as a matter of fact. I don’t think you would ever hear an entire crowd singing every word to Red Mosquito over Eddie in any other place in the country.

That being said, the crowd can elevate a great performance, but it’s never going to make or break a show for me.

As for last night, another great show. The band sounds inspired and far exceeded my expectations on this tour. I went to the last 3, and thought they were all great; Philly 1 was an all-timer. Sound quality last night started out pretty rough from where I was sitting, but really came together when Wreckage was played and actually sounded much better than Wells Fargo for the remainder of the show.

Baltimore didn’t quite reach the heights of the Philly shows, but overall a pretty flawless performance. Great hearing deep and tremor christ. That was my first time hearing Can’t Keep, which was cool, but sounded terrible. (Not the band, just the audio in the building).

For a while there I was wondering why the band was still keeping Lukin in the rotation, as I’ve heard some pretty terrible vocal performances on it over the past few years or so, but Ed really nailed it last night. Naturally, he doesn’t have the same capabilities that he had 20+ years ago, but it seems like he’s trying harder (or something) on this tour, and he sounds fucking great.

Wouldve loved to hear setting sun, but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be on this go round. Hopefully it sticks around in the future so I can see it live someday.

I think the problem with setting sun is it doesn’t do well in the spot it’s in. I understand wanting to end with the fan favorite high energy usuals. I think it would work perfectly in the number 2 or 3 spot as it starts slow then builds to that end. It’d be a great transition to the rocking songs like present tense does.
Exactly my belief.  I've always felt Setting Sun would make a better opener than closer.

Philly superiority speaks for itself over the bands history.  There is no debate.

I was at Philly in 2013, but not these ones. I have never been to a show where the crowd was not audibly singing pretty much every song

Agree with you about crowds not making or breaking shows

Interesting to hear Ed dismiss the Blood request last night - I think we can officially consider that one retired

Thought the band was on fire coming off MSG and Philly but the crowd was lame. Maybe it was just my section? I gave it all my energy in the main set to show the band my appreciation for how hard they were playing. Section 122/123 row L….no one knew any words. People sitting. Some guy threw up and cleared out 2 rows of people. At least 8 people in front of me snuck into GA. Eddie: “looks like the left side is doing better than the right” 💯 Again, band was fantastic
You should have stepped back to 122 S-V 🤣

The sign was obnoxiously large and blocking people's views in GA, so that whole thing was very satisfying. He put the sign down and it was never seen again. LOL

I had considered making a SAD sign but that validated that it was better not to.

Shout out to hero fan that gave Jeff an Earl the Pearl jersey (Baltimore Bullets). What a genius gift - he was so happy. Eddie got a matching windbreaker/pullover. They wore them during final encore and bow.

And the band stopped Alive for all the right reasons. GA fan, medical… needed to get out to take a breather. Ed patiently made sure they were okay, said there was no need to apologize, … playfully added that the fan did really great making it that far in the show because he saw way bigger guys in Philly’s GA go down in the opener….

    That was me!!!!

Thanks for the reminder. I remember thinking in the moment that it sounded odd, like I didn’t notice him not do the end of black, so when I heard that part, I wondered if he did forget and just forced it in after the band had already moved on. But interesting that he actually just sang it twice. Looking forward to hearing that again on the bootleg.

  • I was at Philly 2 and Baltimore. The Baltimore crowd was strong, great energy, and one helluva show from PJ. That said, it wasn't even close to the energy in Philly on Monday night. No shade, its just what I saw and heard and felt. I can't think of many shows I've been to by anyone that had the energy of Philly 2. So when I hear folks say Saturday was even HIGHER, I can't even imagine. FWIW I live in DC, so no Philadelphia bias here. I was also at the Ten show, and tbh, I'm not sure the crowd that night reached the intensity of Monday. And you all know how wild that one was.

I was at both 2016 Philly shows too, and IDK if it's recency bias, but Philly 1 this year seemed better.

    It was perfection.

Yeah Philly 03 was something else.  And of course the crowd at MSG 03 was just as loud.  The crowd intensity from 98-2003 in the northeast has not been matched anywhere in the US since imo.
