Is it me or is eddie engaging with fans way more then normal this US tour. Watched videos from Philadelphia. Numerous times he takes the mike off the stand and up to the rail he goes
.it's brilliant. He never used to do that a huge amount. Anyway it's brilliant..amazing shows far
Please come back to Europe 2025

  • It is strategic, giving himself and the guys a bit of a break. Usually I like bands to keep playing, but I like to hear Eddie talk. He is great at crowd engagement.

Yeah, at Wrigley he was telling stories and they are fun to listen to.

At the Indy show, I was annoyed at the guys next to me, whenever he would talk, they would yell and ask him to stop talking and play more songs.

  • His Philly banter was just right - didn't take away from the music. He was funny and hit just the right notes with his advocacy. Unusually, everyone around me seemed to appreciate it all.

  • Wrigley 2 was a bit much IMO. Too much storytelling takes away from the energy of the show.

That said, he's a rock star so he can do whatever the hell he wants and I'm still gonna buy a ticket.

Pretty sure the OP is talking about the interactions Eddie is having with all of the railriders at the front during songs.

I guess it gives them reason to do what they do and think its normal behaviour....

I love the stories.  When I went to the Wrigley 2016 shows, it almost felt more like a home show than the shows I've seen in Seattle.   Eddie has a real connection to Chicago, and it shows when they play there.

I don't mind the storytelling, it gives them the chance to catch their breath for a minute.  But I wish he would stop touching people and high fiving and holding hands.  He gets sick too easily, and concerts are postponed/cancelled every tour now. Most of us have to travel and it ain't cheap these days.  No reason to keep touching so many potentially germy and sick people.

With the arena shows, there's now a little bump out of the center stage that connects closer to the rail riders vs the sides. Allows him to move closer. He might seem more engaged with this setup as well because there's no crowd behind the stage to interact with, so the time's spent bouncing between Stone & Mike's side.

He's put preparation work into his stories too.  They are much more polished than usual.  Going to have a writer's room for the 2025 Sphere run.

  • He's a funny guy! Ed solo Fox Theater St.Louis back in 2011 was something I'll never forget. Love that he started bringing that brand of funny/story time to PJ's sets.
