everyone likes different things. Tom's main guitar is a mix matched homemade one with "Arm the Homeless" written on the top. He gets those cool sounds with an allen wrench and a whammy pedal off of active EMG P/U's. He also likes Hagstroms and the Ibanez's. Ibanez makes quality stuff. That factory in Japan is clean as a hospital surgery room and They are good enough for Steve Vai and Joe Satriani as well.

I personally love the looks of the 335. Epiphone makes an Elite version of the DOT for around $1200 the also have an Elite Casino for the same price. Basically they take the parts of an American built 335 and build it in another country. They are excellent guitars for around $1000 less than their American counterparts.

I wouldn't just mail a check off to Ibanez based on that... but I would certainly recommend giving them a try. I was actually very impressed with the quality, craftsmanship, and sound (seeing as how the Gibsons are $2000 guitars and the Ibanez's are $300 guitars).
