Questions for Wrigley vets

Wondering a couple things…

will you be able to see the Ivy wall in the background?

is there a sound check and can you see it from outside? Roof tops perhaps?

What are the chances they would play “All The Way”?

See ya next week!

cheers

Yes they'll have a soundcheck. You can't see it but definitely hear it. Not sure if you can see from the rooftops.

Damn that looks great.  Unfortunately we’re not on the field but super pumped to be there.

Ok good to know. Any idea what time of day they’ll fire up the SC?

In 2018 it was around dusk time the night before the shows.

I would say low odds for “All the Way”…Cubs sub 500 with 8 NL teams over 500…doesn’t seem like a hopeful year for hanging pennants and what not.  Then again maybe it is the perfect year to play in hopes for pivoting to better outcomes in the coming years.  Or it could be retired altogether since “someday” came when they won it all in 2016.  Only EV knows the real deal here.  Hope you get to hear it.

It's been retired since the 2016 World Series, so likely not happening.

We are changing our plans and taking Uber to the show and back instead of the red line. My wife is going to still be using her knee scooter following surgery and trying to successfully utilize the train seems close to impossible with all of the people who will be trying to come and go. Even if we wait a while after the show to grab the train, it will still be pretty crowded. Uber is going to end up costing us a bunch, but I feel it is safer for her. We can grab a drink or something to eat and wait for the Uber prices to go down a bit.

if you walk south a bit you might avoid some of the foot traffic around Wrigley...there is a train station at Belmont that has a bunch of bars/restaurants around it. Might be easier to uber from there

Thanks for the info. She has been on that scooter since April. We were hoping by the time the show came around she would have been done with it. She will be using it Monday in Noblesville, but we are taking a shuttle back and forth from our hotel, so it should be easier to manage.

  • I used ParkWhiz and found $7 parking at Loyola. It’s like 6 stops on the red line north of the stadium, $5 round trip per person using the train. There are not many people going north on the train after the show so no issues getting back after. Did this in 2018 and it worked great.

Getting on the redline is a pain right after the show, but for $5 a day, you can really beat that deal.
Besides, as soon as you fight the crowd and get on... it's smooth sailing until your stop.
An Uber will cost 10 times as much with all the people trying to get one.

We walked south on Clark for about 15 mins.  Nice leg stretch after the show, caught a bus and made it the magnificent mile in 15 mins.  So took 30 mins total and avoided the subway completely.  What a nightmare scene that was.

    night two tonight!
