Raffles

Get_RightGet_Right Posts: 13,140
Hey, does anyone know if raffles are prohibited on this forum? Not an auction, the item would be free. I see the RAK thread, but I have a few CDs, vinyl and posters I might be looking to get rid of. I would just raffle them off using a random number generator to pick the winner. Would it be wrong or unethical, or just uncool to ask for shipping costs if I gave something away?  Just curious, I am cleaning out my house and looking to get rid of stuff.

Well I will wait for Monday in case the mods chime in, otherwise @Loujoe will get a box of stuff. Keep expectations low  =)

I would think this is fine. You're not selling raffle tickets, right? Sounds more like a lottery if you're asking people to enter and the winner agrees to pay shipping. Just seems like more work on your end to do it lottery style vs first come.

No tickets. Just a bunch of random PJ/EV stuff that others may enjoy. There are no grails here, but one or two items that I could probably sell for a decent profit. The rest is just stuff. I have seen it on other band forums. It might be more work, but also might be fun. I would ship the small stuff for free but might ask for a contribution for posters or vinyl. Is that reasonable? Honestly I have stuff I need to get rid of and this seems like a fun way to do it.

Yeah totally reasonable. I think just put your shipping ask with each item.

Yeah! That’s cool! I would pay shipping. I think I have done this before but proceeds going to Operation Yellow Ribbon. Very cool idea!
