Your PJ playlists

Couldn‘t find a thread about this, apologies if there is one. I‘d be interested to read about any PJ mixtapes you‘ve made.

Made quite a few over the last years, some for friends catering to their tastes and some for me catering to a specific mood I may be in. I‘ll start with the polar opposite ones:

PJ Ambient

1. Sometimes
2. Buckle Up
3. Can‘t Keep
4. I‘m Open
5. Arc
6. W.M.A.
7. Sleight Of Hand
8. Alright
9. Of The Girl
10. Who You Are
11. The Long Road
12. You Are
13. Low Light
14. All Or None
15. Parting Ways

PJ Punk

1. Brain Of J
2. Save You
3. Lukin
4. Hail, Hail
5. Superblood Wolfmoon
6. Running
7. World Wide Suicide
8. Breakerfall
9. Grievance
10. React, Respond
11. Comatose
12. Spin The Black Circle
13. MFC
14. Last Exit
15. Do The Evolution

Never mind the titles, btw. I‘m not labeling anything punk or even post-punk in the strictest sense, although a lot of it is punk-inspired obviously. It‘s mainly a connective spirit. Same with the „Ambient“ one, which just refers to tracks that are perhaps more about atmosphere than classic songwriting structures.

I just make (too many) live playlists - usually from different tours but specific to albums eras (eg, 2012 Tour - Ten Era tracks or 2000 Tour - Ten/Vs/Vitalogy tracks).

Got some stuff as MP3, some on vinyl and some on Spotify (so much Binaural tour era there, the greatest in my view), so that never really worked for me format-wise. You collect the files, I assume?

Yeah, I have a bank of bootlegs that I “work from.” I use Nero Soundtrax to cross fade the live tracks to make it seem like a mini show. They’re all I listen to nowadays. Obviously everything starts with studio albums but I much prefer live stuff. The actual shows are fine (great, really) but it’s a (admittedly kinda lame) hobby of mine to make these mini playlists. I do this with some other bands but there’s so much to work with when dealing with Pearl Jam.

Ten Era - Euro 2012 (Live) - “LP version”

    Side A
    1. Release (Manchester 1)
    2. Once (Manchester 2)
    3. Even Flow (Oslo)
    4. Garden (Prague)
    5. Porch (Berlin 2)

    Side B
    1. Oceans (Berlin 2)
    2. Why Go (Oslo)
    3. Deep (Amsterdam 2)
    4. Black (Manchester 1)
    5. Jeremy (Stockholm)
    6. Alive (Berlin 1)

    Bonus EP
    1. Wash (Amsterdam 2)
    2. State of Love and Trust (Berlin 1)
    3. Footsteps (Amsterdam 2)
    4. Breath (Oslo)
    5. Yellow Ledbetter (Copenhagen)

Not sure if this is the sharing of ideas that you’re looking for but it’s something I can contribute to the discussion. It’s one of my favourite playlists that I’ve made over the years and I listen to it quite often. I know some are sick of Ten but I think it’s aged extremely well - especially the live versions of the songs.

Nice! As I said earlier, my PJ live stuff is spread over too many different mediums (and I‘m not a live collector anyway), but I love the idea of a Best Of live versions in the order of the album tracklist.

And I agree about live versions improving the Ten songs (as does f.e. Stone, btw). I personally listen to the Ten stuff much more often as live recordings than the album ones.
