After watching and not particularly enjoying Season 1, I got roped into watching Season 2 because I was promised copious and affecting use of both Pearl Jam and Wilco. And then I liked Season 2 even less than Season 1. I'm not falling for this blatant attempt to get me to watch Season 3 by trotting out a new Eddie Vedder song. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me-- you can't get fooled again...
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Season 2 was awesome. Reviews are saying season 3 isn't nearly as good, but I've only watched the first episode so far.

Amazing cover.  This studio recording is 28 years overdue.  Buffalo 96 i think was the first time?  Wish that show was a Vault.

    The sax fits well.

This is really good yet, not even close to how good PT's version is🎸 Saw the EB perform this opening for the Police at AV. Oingo Boingo was also an opener...unbelievable show(1982 GITM TOUR)...good times and just a really great song😎

You can buy the track from the 7digital store. They have MP3, 16 bit FLAC, or 24 bit FLAC.

    Thanks!

His Save it for Later tags on Better Man typically sound a lot better than this version to me.

I agree with you. The song is good, and the sax is fine, but the song is not nearly as energetic as the live tags we have been hearing for years. It lacks the classic EV outro (runaway runaway runaway).

I think it's one of the best things he's ever recorded. His phrasing, and the arrangement.
"They said ... timing was everything
made him ... want to be everywhere
there's a ... lot to be said for nowhere."

I thought there would be more of a build up in intensity toward the end… kinda disappointing, but it is a good version and reminiscent of Townshend’s version.

My favorite thing about this cover is the homage to the Townshend version (which I'm guessing is how EV became aware of this song?) + the sax paying homage to the English Beat original + the closing background vocals paying homage to the PJ version. The latter may be a bit self-indulgent but I don't mind it  :)

Pete Townshend - 1997-06-14 - House of Blues, Chicago, IL (Stripped-down show)

    Pete Townshend

    1997-06-14
    House of Blues, Chicago, IL
    (Stripped-down sets - solo w/ piano accompaniment)
    Soundboard recording, very good quality
Available as a Lossless (FLAC) file

Here's a great solo show from Pete Townshend, mostly acoustic, stripped-down to just Pete with his guitar and piano/keyboard accompaniment. And Pete puts on an epic, nearly three-hour show, featuring more than 30 songs from throughout his career. Pete also brings in Chicago native Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) as a special guest on a couple songs ('Heart to Hang Onto' done as a tribute to the recently deceased Ronnie Lane (The Faces), 'Tattoo', and 'Magic Bus'). Although Pete's voice is a bit rough throughout, he puts on a heck of a show, and all these songs take on a very different feel when done solo than when done by The Who, or with another full band. This was a benefit show for a local Chicago charity, Maryville Academy, which was called "a leader in the treatment of physically, sexually, and emotional abused children. It provides a safe, secure, and stable environment where these youngsters can regain the hope they lost so long ago and begin the healing process". This was the first of what became a series of yearly benefit shows for the charity. Parts of the show from the following year (1998) were released as a live album. But this is the complete show from the previous year (1997), and a fine soundboard recording to boot.

    Tracklist:
