Some thoughts before I go to bed:

Took my 9 year old girl and 11 year old boy to their first concert (at least since they were babes with earmuffs). It was a bit long for my boy but my girl was standing on her seat and whooping 'til the end.

Pendulum was such a nice and unexpected opener. Really, the first four songs were so great to have on the setlist. I'm open was really nice but it's a weird version Ed does now. No bother. Elderly was great. I don't know what the hell went wrong with Faithful, but it sounded like the chords were wrong in the intro and outro and Ed was doing his best to cover for it. Bothered me, but the rockin' middle was great. The four song stretch of DM songs was fun, but definitely took the crowd out of it a little bit. This crowd felt mediocre to me- really showing up at moments, but mostly classic old stuff.

Garden was great. I don't know what AIC riff Mike was supposed to be playing lol, but Ed sang Man in the Box to it for a second. Lukin was better than I would have expected (I don't love the song but it was fun). After that there seemed to be stretches of the show where they just kinda were plodding along. Was excited to hear Waiting For Stevie but I think the Portland version may have been better. Light Years was a treat as it is one of my favorites of all time. Ed had a hard time playing it at first, and mentioned he was getting emotional. They were charging thru it, but like many songs it felt like it lost a little steam in the middle.

The overhead projector stuff was cool, and I dig Ed's fancy handwriting, haha. Crowd seemed to match his politics pretty well when he made a comment about gun control and abortion. Glad he's still using the platform for good.

Picture in a Frame was beautiful and I think a highlight, even though it was just Ed. Even though I've heard them a million times, I thought Jeremy and Black were very spirited, with Black having one of the best Mike runs at the end I can remember.

Oh yeah, I should mention that on Evenflow earlier, my kids got to see Mike do the behind his head soloing. That was rad.

Ed badly messed up lyrics on Do The Evolution, and said I'm sorry if I heard him right. Kept charging ahead and it was a pretty good version.

Porch had one of my favorite moments of the night: as Ed was leaving the stage to go into the crowd, Jeff, Mike and Stone were all in a circle around Matt and jamming their asses off. Maybe they always do that, I can't remember, but it was beautiful and sounded fresh and inspired.

Setting Sun is a great closer. Ed sang a few parts of it slightly flat, but whatever. I have to kind of turn the critical part of my brain off sometimes. There were many great, powerful moments in this show. There were also some sloppy spots (I really am nervous for how Faithful will sound on the bootleg, but sometimes what I hear live and what it sounds like later are two different things entirely). It was a fellow next to us's first show, and the song he had really wanted to hear was Upper Hand, and he got it and loved the show so much, a total dream come true that exceeded expectations. A couple rows back, I could hear another fan saying they were garbage tonight. It wasn't the best PJ show I've been to, and it was undoubtedly the most expensive. I can see how things like that would be frustrating to a lot of people. I had a great time, and gave my kids something they asked me for, and something they loved and will remember for the rest of their life.

I look forward to seeing them again in a couple weeks at Bottle Rock, and reading other reviews of tonight's show.

Great night! I’m Open, Lightyears, Faithful, Do the Evolution, Picture in a Frame all songs I’ve never heard live before. I was super excited to hear the new songs live and they did not disappoint. I wish I could have been in the Pit but maybe a miracle will happen for LV2.

Wow!! Can't believe I high fived Eddie and he stood next to me and sang porch. He did a selfie with the guy next me. I had an incredible time. I took my best friend to his first PJ concert which was also his first rock concert. I set the bar high for him, lol. This was my 49th show. I have to say the crowd energy was weak, though(IMO). I'm genuinely shocked. GA barely moved. I kept looking all around and majority of people were not moving or singing. Never experienced that before. Especially at PJ.Betterman was a perfect example. I haven't heard Eddie sing that much of the beginning in over 20 years I brought it all night and loved the boys energy tonight, though. So glad for a "home show". The new songs are awesome. They did a great job mixing them in. Mike's solo during Waiting for Stevie was epic. Running is my favorite from the new album and my next favorite is Wreckage. Both are even better live. Still can't believe interacted with Eddie. Looking forward to Bottlerock and Ohana. Thank you Pearl Jam.

I listen to the 4/28 show more than I do the Ten show.
Those two shows were insane. I remember being tired from the night before ,waiting for them to come on thinking there’s no way they top last night……… sad that those days seem to be gone.

Thanks for the free promo of Pismo and the local surf shop Ed.  Didn’t go to the show as work kept me from Sac this week but recognized one of the two local Pismo surf shops immediately.  If this guy is from Pismo and surfs the local breaks, even more props.

DTE had a different set of animations- I’m not sure how much if any was from the music video. Similar style, but R rated (nudity).

Overall had a really great time last night. So fun being in an undersold pit. Could go pretty much anywhere except dead center front. Moved around a bunch, though mainly stayed towards the back. Sound was better further back in the pit.

Was a little disappointed in the opening 4 pack. Pendulum was fine but not a great fit for this crowd. I'm Open is just a strange choice and Faithfull sounded a bit off. Show took off with the new songs and just got better as it went along. Even DOTC sounded cool, which I hadn't heard live before. Waiting for Stevie might have been the best of new songs last night. I really don't need 6 Ten songs - 4 in the encore-, but they were all very well played and the crowded was way into it. Was cool to see Porch in a different spot though was hoping for RVM. Setting Sun is so great as a closer. Was also cool to get an Eddie high 5 as we went through the back pit area/barricade.

I'm kind of leaning towards skipping BottleRock as I'm guessing with all the Ten songs and Better Man last night, they'll repeat 3/4 of the show from last night there. Not sure it's worth the time, expense and hassle to hear maybe 3 or 4 songs not played last night. We'll see how I feel once my ears stop ringing. It was really loud!

Of the last 3 shows I've seen, included the 2 from Oakland in 2022, this was probably my least favorite, but only by small degrees. They sounded great, new songs are super solid live and are having a lot of fun on stage.

First show with the kids. They were happy as they played all the hits - Evenflow, Alive, Betterman, DOTC, DTE etc. For me the setlist was not that great with all those songs from 10 ... and the crowd energy was definitely lacking. First time ever I started the concert sitting down as most of the folks in the high section were. A few of us eventually stood up and thanked each other for solidarity.

I was shocked to see some of the seats in the lower section empty and wondered how ten club handed my seats up in the 2XX sections after 20+ years in the club.

Sorry you got 200 level seats via 10 Club. I was shocked at how high up that level is with the suites in between the lower and upper level.

Ed sounded great, and the band seemed genuinely happy. The new screen concept is good. I thought they kept turning on the lights too often. The highlights of the show for me- Faithful, Lightyears, Garden, Black, Corduroy, Dance of the clairvoyants. I didn't care too much about the new songs. They're excited to showcase their new album. They performed eight tracks from it While I personally lean towards the old favorites, it's understandable that the band wants to play new material  The new album isn't lacking in quality, but fans like me will take time to appreciate the new songs. We will always prefer the old stuff. :)

There is now a YT video of the performance of Faithfull: https://youtu.be/ozlbjstKHpw?si=zZckujABbrnk4HYq

I'm pretty convinced it was a problem with Mike's guitar either being tuned wrong or something similar.

I'm pretty convinced it was a problem with Mike's guitar either being tuned wrong or something similar.

Their guitars were tuned down flat a half step (easier to sing) so it sounded off compared to what we are used to hearing but Mike was also playing the intro chord progression incorrectly a full step below what it should have been. He just mistakenly started the song on the wrong fret and kept going. That combined with the lower tuning to begin with is why it sounded strange.

Honestly I think it affected my enjoyment of the show, as that kind of made me think "damn, they're not as good as they used to be," but on balance, the rest of the show was pretty great!
