I have fomo for the big shows. Saturday night in Philly last year. Small venue in Florida and Friday night in Pittsburgh this year.

By “the game” I mean that they know their fans are traveling for shows. Would Pittsburgh be this tough if they also played Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo and/or Toronto? PJ still gets paid but they may want to do right by the promoter unfortunately.
The idea of "big shows" is largely self-imposed. I'd wager that Monday night in Vancouver last year was every bit as good as Saturday night in Philly. Two random shows in Glendale (Phoenix) that I attended were both better than most of the eight MSG shows I've attended.
I was at both Vancouver and both Philly shows.

The Philly show on Saturday was next level.
Agree.  That satuday show was one of the best i've ever seen.  Not all shows are created equal.
All shows actually are *created* equal, but they don't all end up playing out that way. But my point is that some shows that people anticipate  ahead of time to be epic based on location or night of the week turn out to be merely "ordinary," and a lot of shows in random places on odd nights turn out to be next-level.

Anticipation is one thing.  We’re all aware people anticipate some shows more than others.  But your statement about Vancouver and Philly 1 wasn’t about anticipation.  You said that Vancouver was “every bit as good” as Philly 1.  Don’t move the goalposts.  Just take the L.
Bootleg-wise Vancouver night 2 sounds better than Philly night 1 and closed with Setting Sun. 😶‍🌫️
setting sun is a great song but philly night 1 closed with indifference.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Canadian leg with a detour to Vermont. Canada’s upcoming 11th province.
Can we bring Montana along for the ride and make it an even number 12?

    Montana could become southern Alberta!

I'm not moving any goalposts. That's my opinion of the relative quality of the shows. Your mileage may vary.

The best PJ show is the one you're currently in the crowd for -- watching as it unfolds in front of you.

I was telling someone in the merch line last year that the guys could come out and play my 25 least favorite songs and I'd still have a fucking blast. They're consummate professionals and while we can argue about setlist and crowd and all that, they give everything every night -- seem to take pride in making sure the crowd gets something to remember.

It's all subjective anyway... one person's favorite show ever might be the next person's least for reasonz.

Dublin '24 was as much a greatest hits set as I've seen but the energy from the crowd was off the charts. You won't necessarily get that from the bootleg, and you absolutely won't get that from reading the setlist. On paper it was a pretty lackluster show, but in person it was phenomenal.

Eh. Those of us at Worcester 2 2013 who had also been there the night before knew we weren't seeing as good a show. Doesn't mean it wasn't a good show or a fun show, but it also wasn't the best as it was happening.

Worcester 1 was insane. I think Eddie drank as much Borolo as I did beers and it affected Night 2.

Even on an off night, they still gave us Other Side. Worcester for the win!

If I’m understanding the internet correctly, N1 had Last Kiss, Crazy Mary and Sonic Reducer near the end of the show. Have nothing against any of those songs, but PJ has about a hundred self written tunes I’d rather hear towards the end of any show. Apologies if I’ve mixed the nights.

This is why you can't judge a show by the setlist...

Ed didn't have it @ N2. People said he got shattered the night before so he may have been hung over. (N1 was an epic show by all accounts) .

Long story short, the energy from the band just wasn't there, it was as lackluster a show as I've ever seen out of them.

The encore for Austin 2 in ‘23 was one of my favorite PJ moments and people on the forum were saying it looked boring because it was just all the hits. It was all the hits, played great, one after the other. Tore the roof off.
