Wow people really don't like River Cross.
Its a banger of a closer.

Also, because of how common it has been to open shows, Release feels like a better opener to me.

I’m shocked by how low All Those Yesterdays is coming in.

Some of the list results had me wondering too, but then I realized that everyone usually likes all of these songs, it's just that they love the other ones just a bit more.  These songs are all so great, I can't imagine ranking them over each other.  Maybe putting them in tiers makes more sense.

Totally. I love The End. It's an absolute tearjerker so I don't listen to it often but it's such a good closer. The hilarious thing is Yellow Ledbetter is not in the list given it is the traditional closer for PJ gigs. Wonder where it would sit were it on this list.

    1. Indifference - best running order of all their albums

    2.  Immortality - my favourite PJ song but the whole “is it the closer?” debate puts it at #2

    3. Release - adore it (especially live) but that makes me consider it the best OPENER

    4. Parting Ways - should close more shows (maybe will take the second last spot during a show on this tour???)

    5. All Those Yesterdays
    6. Setting Sun - where it sits right now
    7. All or None
    8. Inside Job
    9. Around The Bend

    10. The End
    11. River Cross
    12. Future Days

Very difficult to rank for me, but I would go

    1. Release
    2. Indifference
    3. Immortality
    4. Parting Ways
    5. Setting Sun
    6. All Those Yesterdays
    7. Inside Job
Those 7 are songs I listen to all the time while the following fall off for me. River Cross sounds awesome live though.

    8. Future Days
    9. River Cross
    10. The End
    11. Around the bend
    12. All or None

I count immortality. In this context it is the last song, even if it doesn't close the album.
Although I understand this stance, we‘re getting into the shaky territory of what constitutes a song. In the context of mainstream rock, it might make sense to leave it out, but the lines are definitely blurry even regarding PJ. Does Red Bar count as a song? Does there have to be at least a chord change (Push Me, Pull Me / Arc)? Etc.

Either way, it‘s definitely the last track / recording of the record, so I’m counting it:

    1. Around The Bend *****
    2. Indifference *****
    3. Parting Ways *****

    4. Setting Sun ****1/2
    5. All Those Yesterdays ****1/2
    6. All or None ****1/2
    7. Release ****1/2
    8. Inside Job ****1/2

    9. The End ***1/2
    10. River Cross ***1/2

    11. Future Days **1/2

    12. Stupid Mop **

    Edit: Added stars

Release, All Those Yesterdays, and Setting Sun are top three. Release is my all time favorite song so that’s an easy one for me.

Hummus is a banger!  :rock_on:  But I would just consider that a bonus feature of All Those Yesterdays, which is a very fine track by itself, it just gets enhanced by having Hummus follow.

Immortality might not be the last track but it is most definitely the closer imo.

Immortality is such a beautiful and amazing song, and it sits well as an album closer, and also as a standalone track.  But it seems like Stupid Mop is an extension of the song, and the true intended album closer based on feeling.  As if the listener has fell thru the trap door in the Sun.  Vitalogy is such a cool album.

Then they should just rank Retrograde. That’s how Immortality ended up on these lists even though it doesn’t close an album
