His post says he hears some bits of PJs musical DNA in these songs.  He’s not saying that these songs sound like these previous songs.

No, analogs is the right word.
Yea but he's comparing the songs
Sweetwater was an analog for Led Zep
Homelander is an analog of Superman
An analogy is similar, clearly from the same root word, and could certainly be used to say something very similar if not quite synonymous.
But the way Cohen wrote it analog was the right word.

    Spot on. Precisely.

i always think of it like this:

when in conversation with someone and looking for a way to explain the nature on something general, i use an analogy. “You want credit for observing x, when it’s like calling water wet. Stating the obvious.”

Analogs, on the other hand, tend to refer to past events or pre existing things to which we can look for comparisons to current day. In my world we always talk about analogs to current trends in capital mkts or the economy. Is 1995 an analog for the current high int rate, low unemployment, and high economic growth trend? If so, what conclusions can we draw. How…analogous are the two periods?

analogs are used in meteorology all the time to help predict or explain how storms or significant weather events will play out.

of course, analogs are almost never deterministic. They are used in probabilistic modeling.

Wait is Homelander an analog of Superman?

I’m excited and I’m happy about that for this album.

I'm glad that Running is compared to the worst songs they've released. Very glad.
Yeah I was so happy to see this....remain baffled why they released it second though.

This Stevie song better live up to the hype!

I've been lucky enough to hear this album and some of this is way off.
I think his point is that he hears or feels elements of the listed songs in the corresponding DM tracks. It’s a very subjective thing and hey, if he hears it, that’s his reality.

also….didn’t you say you couldn’t really focus on the record much with Ed being right there and the sort of party-like atmosphere that was the London event?

Wait... What?! :open_mouth: Was Eddie present at the London listening party last week?

Nevermind, I just found the answer: Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter, a listening party with Ed Vedder in London. I'm only a 2h-train ride from London... :disappointed:
