Maybe, but he has figured out how to get the right players. Smart coach that will not spend a nickel on high school recruits.

    he and rick barnes.

some guy in the Athletic wrote that “we” have to embrace the new version of cinderella. no, not the george masons or butlers but teams like iowa because a bunch of iowa players USED TO play for drake (a mid major cinderella type). 99% (100%?) of the comments were GTFO. not a single 13-16 seed won last weekend. NIL is making that less and less likely.

That’s cool…but I believe they have some money, yes? And a high profile coach.

i was rooting for Utah State. They had an NIL budget of $2.4M, $150k coming from the coach. I don’t think Calipari needs to do that. Meanwhile, BYU pays one guy 2-3x that. The big boys have $20M rosters and $10M coaches. Then, Utah State wins 28 games, wins their conference, wins their tourney and gets a 9 seed which puts them against #1 for the second game. No respect. Meanwhile, Duke plays in SC, Michigan in Chicago and Houston is now in Houston. I guess this rewards the high seeds but it sure fucks the mid majors. Stick a fork in Cinderella; she’s done.

Correct on all accounts but there was a time in the mid-2000s around 2004 or so when some people thought St. John's should step down from the Big East to the MAAC. I never understood the seeding or the pods. I thought it was done to reward good teams but when St. John's played, it was in San Diego.

they only reward the top few seeds with where they play. a 5th seed does not get that advantage.

Purdue vs Texas started out with 9 minutes of pure uninterrupted college basketball bliss that made you realize how special the game is ... and then it turned into a two hour Ref Show.  Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on the tourney and you have 3 guys in their 60's staring at a 7 inch monitor.  It really felt like "The Wheel of Destiny" was being spun when these guys went to the monitor.  Gene Saterator might as well been in calling the game in the booth.

Speaking of Gene, fuck this guy.  Go back to ruining NFL games.  No one likes a know-it-all lawyer / politician telling them the reason a flagrant foul wasn't called when your shooting guard is almost decapitated is because another guy was "invading the space" of said elbow thrower ... I think all sports fans could unite in chipping in $5 bucks to send this guy on a one way rocket trip to the core of Neptune.  He is The Wolfe in Pulp Fiction, cleaning up messes for Roger Goodell and the NFL, and now CBS.

Purdue are like the nba players who foul bait.  And because they’re so physical they foul a lot which equals long game.

I enjoyed this game.  The momentum shift late was How Perdue won.  If they didn't though I thought they were going to get trampled.

Last second tip in was a big time play.

Guys, root for me please.  Top 99% so far.

If I hit my winners tonight I'll be in really good shape to actually win some money believe it or not.

I need Iowa, Albama, Uconn and Duke to win.

Guaranteed one team in the final 4 already and the possibility of an all Big10 Final 4 is still alive.
    This weekend we rock Portland

the reviews are worse than the NBA. the early games were fantastic. my clicker got a workout. do TV’s still do the picture-in-picture thing? or was that a great 80’s innovation that they decided to do away with?

all my rooting interests won yesterday, with the exception of arkansas (with was more anti AZ than anything).
