That small clip sounds like it could be a song relative to “Brother”, pun intended.  Can’t wait for Monday night!
Hey, speaking of which-- I was listening to NYC 12/31/92 yesterday, and it sounds like Ed introduces what is labeled as "Daughter" as "Brother," and then he sometimes sings "daughter" and sometimes sings "brother" in the performance. (I know the song originated as "Brother" before becoming "Daughter," as seen in the clip in PJ20.) The sound quality of the recording is not great, so it's hard to tell, but has anyone else noticed this?
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Both snippets sound like they could be the start of the song
They do, but it could also be that the 30-second clip follows the 25-second clip, or the 30-second clip follows the first verse. We'll find out soon enough. We have 55 seconds of this song; can't we just have the rest now? Please, Mom!

  • Whose riff is that? Jeff, Stone, or Ed?
  • The clip on the Wikipedia page sounds dope!!!

I know they said it's a song about Ed's daughters, but I'm holding out hope that "Setting Sun" is a cover of the Chemical Brothers song.

I'm pretty sure that "something special " is the song about his daughters.

Lord Huron also has a great song called Setting Sun. Actually, it’s my favorite of theirs.

I love that I still care enough to drop everything to try to parse two lines of lyrics to a new Pearl Jam song.

You're right. I mixed up my sight-unseen* alliterative titles. The good news is this slightly increases the odds it is a Chemical Brothers cover.

I've been working on this one for just over 29 years, and here's what I've got:

A-wooh, aye davanita, a-wooh, a-wooh (repeat, throwing in some jah-oohs for added flavor).

Love the new snippet on Wikipedia! This is definitely song #3 in the back alley video above. Therefore:

IF the above tracklist is accurate, the single would be called Wreckage.

Remember that the first 2 "facts" we heard about the new album were:
    1. First single will be called The Wrecker
    2. B-side is Dark Matter an acoustic ballad.

If you re-watch the back alley video above, the Wikipedia snippet is song #3 and song #4 is a mellow acoustic song.

So, MAYBE the new single's title... Wreckage.

    Make sense or no?

I agree with you, it definitely has Matt vibes.  However it's probably written by Boom lol.

If the snippet is the single, it seems like it would be Dark Matter as that is in the lyric.

We heard the snippet of Dark Matter and it’s definitely not an acoustic ballad.

I think Dark Matter is the single.

    First single of each album:

    TEN, Alive with Once
VS, Go with Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town (Acoustic)
VITALOGY, Spin The Black Circle with Tremor Christ
NO CODE, Who You Are with Habit
YIELD, Given To Fly with Pilate
BINAURAL, Nothing As It Seems with Insignificance
RIOT ACT, I Am Mine with Bushleaguer
PEARL JAM, World Wide Suicide with Unemployable
    BACKSPACER, The Fixer with Supersonic
LIGHTNING BOLT, Mind Your Manners (Note: First Album with a track of same name, Lightning Bolt track was the third single. All singles without B-Sides)
GIGATON, Dance Of The Clairvoyants (Note: All singles without B-Sides)
DARK MATTER, Dark Matter (Note: Second Album with a track of same name)

Hope the single has a B-SIDE

    all you need is love
