Eddie Vedder's "Rise" Performed by University of Michigan Marching Band (11/4/23)

A little bit of the music we love got played in front of the largest stadium in the US on Saturday, and as the only active MMB member with a Ten Club Membership I feel obligated to share this incredible crossover. While I can almost assure you it wasn’t intentional, the animal we form when Ed’s music kicks in is a subtle PJ reference to the most serious of collectors. Keep on Rockin’ In The Free World and Go Blue!

You made me look for a rhino, but I found a white whale instead! Pretty impressive!
Rise is not a song I'd ever expect to hear at a half time show by a marching band. Kudos!

Reminds me of many high school half time shows I was involved in (sigh, So long ago...) not as extensive as this, of course. Ed would be proud!

    Very cool.

Now if the animal were a “stalion” (see what I did there) it would have been totally epic.

Well then you might find our show from a few weeks earlier (specifically the 4th movement), VERY epic:

    That is too perfect!

The marching bands are such an awesome part of college football.

I have had the opportunity in my life to attend Michigan vs Ohio State games twice, once in each venue.  I’m mostly neutral but Michigan is probably more of a home team for me.  Watching the UM band play “Hail” (not the PJ song) in the pregame in the horseshoe and get booed by 100k Ohioans was better than the game.

Congrats to you for having this in your life.  It must be awesome to be a part of.
