First time songs (personally)

In my 4 show Texas run this tour (shows 16-19 for me) I heard 13 first time songs. Wow. That seems like a lot! Incredible and speaks to just how special this tour has been. Can’t wait for the next tour!

  • That's fun.  Were any of those (1) songs you were hoping to hear during your run, (2) songs you liked more/less after hearing live, and (3) songs you still have stuck in your head?

  • I don’t typically have specific songs I have in mind for a show. I just enjoy it as a whole. It’s later when I get the boot that I might be more drawn to a particular song performance and be thankful I saw it. That being said, Who You Are, Glorified G and Untitled were very special to me this tour.

The Austin shows were 15 and 16 for me. 8 new songs. I'm so happy. I've been wanting to hear Sometimes since show 1, and that was a special treat (ok, all of them were - unemployable, wash!!, in my tree, thumbing my way, didn't think we'd hear habit :) ). The Uber driver back to the hotel played Sometimes for us in the car. Happy flight home today. :)

    Out of my mind
    In my tree
    Thumbing my way
    Wash
    Sometimes
    1/2 full
    Unemployable
    Habit

  • I always jot down a few songs that I want to hear every tour. My songs were All Those Yesterdays, Of the Girl and Sometimes. So Fort Worth 2 was my only show of the tour. Missed ATY by one night, as a disclaimer I had Indy tix as well and felt like Of The Girl would have been the opener. FW2 was my 16th show and I got 3 songs I had never heard live before-Undone was amazing as was Breakerfall. This was my 14 year olds son second show and HTI is a song that I used to sing to him a ton when he was a baby so that was super special.
  • Austin 2 was my 28th show and I’ve been waiting 25+ years to hear Glorified G and finally did. That alone made the travel worth it! I also heard Habit for the first time, which was icing. The other Austin 1&2 songs  were all songs I had heard before, but I got lots of songs for the second time, which is still a treat. Im hoping for around the bend and of the girl for the next tour, bc I’ve also been chasing those for a looong time.

Shows 29-32 for me in Texas and I got 4 new ones. Who You Are was the one I'd been chasing.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
  • Yeah, as I think about it more, seeing Glorified G is starting to feel like a white whale I finally caught. Also, it’s interesting to see so many folks chasing Of the Girl. I saw it in 2003 in San Antonio as a show opener. One of my favorite boots to listen to.

I thought I’d already seen it in ‘96 but I hadn’t. It was so great!

  • Austin was shows 4 and 5 for me. So there’s plenty I hadn’t heard live before but I got 9 new ones from my wish list, plus the Gigaton songs and some deep cuts. Didn’t even have out of my mind on my list of must-hears but it felt special to get that one. Austin N1 blew me away.
  • Chi1 and 2 were shows 28/29 for me. Only Green Disease was previously unheard.

There were a few that I had only scored once before though.

Went to both St. Pauls and both Fort Worths to get to 18 shows. Got Satan's Bed, Sometimes, Untitled, Breakerfall, Insignificance, Severed Hand (which I really wanted and was a great surprise then got it again!), Inside Job, Got Some, and Undone. Pretty great run and shows just how much they played on this tour.

Songs that are really wanted by me at this point are Deep and Glorified G, which they played on this tour.
  • Austin was 15/16 for me.  Firsts were

    Out of my mind
    Retrograde
    smile
    Thumbing my way
    Unemployable

I don’t really go song hunting anymore, but was psyched to hear these.  Can’t wait to see where pj brings me next year.

    FTW 1 and 2 were shows 15 & 16 for me

Oceans night 1 completed Ten for me (only song from Ten not played during my first and only 93 show). First time hearing Footsteps, All Those Yesterdays and Present Tense 🤩

Night 2 was Lowlight, Severed Hand, Inside Job, Seven O'Clock, Undone and I Won't Back Down 🔥

Loved both nights crowd and setlists and grateful and blessed to be able to see them this tour! 🤘

    Street Fighting Man

(Wildflowers and Undone were the other songs this tour I hadn't heard)

I did shows 26 and 27. I got no new PJ songs during shows 23, 24, 25 and 26. But at Ft. Worth I got Undone and Hard to Imagine for the first time. HTI was magical for me. And for the record, those 4 shows in a row with no new songs, were all awesome shows that I am glad I was at!

  • Fort Worth were shows 5 and 6 for me. First time in the pit on N1.

17 first time songs for me over both nights.

Funny enough, going into the show I thought my list of wanted songs was going to be a slam dunk over a two night run: Once, Deep, Dissident, with a variable of Whipping, with the hardest one that I knew was going to be most out of reach being Blood.

    All 5 i haven't seen, and all 5 I didn't get.

I cannot complain though! Both shows were amazing and honestly probably the best shows I've seen up until this point. The setlists and vibes were out of this world and perfectly curated.

Although, how I've gone 6 shows without getting a chance to hear Once yet befuddles me.

Any new realizations... would have to wait...
Til he had more time,... more time...
Time to dream,... to himself... he waves goodbye,
To himself... I'll see you on the other side...

None of those are that easy to get :) Deep at this point is my white whale. I have gone to 18 shows and only have Dissident twice and not since 2003 (adds that to a need to hear again soon list!). I only have Once four times. They did play it three times during this short run, so odds were kind of in your favor.

St. Paul 1 & 2 were my 28th and 29th shows (the second being one of my favorite shows ever).  My new songs were all Gigaton/covers: "Superblood Wolfmoon", "Dance of the Clairvoyants", "Seven O'Clock", "Take the Long Way" (which was the only song I was hoping for), "Buckle Up", "Wildflowers", and "Purple Rain".  Sounds crazy I'm sure but I think that might've been the first time I listened to "Purple Rain" in its entirety.  Highlights for me were seeing "Indifference" to kick the tour off (fourth time ever they opened with it, I think?), "Nothing as it Seems" for the first time since 2000 (my first tour), and Virginia's own "I Am Mine" is always spectacular.

Shows 5 and 6 for me in St. Paul this tour. I got to hear 11 new songs I hadn't heard before. Highlights were Once,  In Hiding, Insignificance, Sometimes and Got Some.
    It's a hopeless situation...
  • Shows 24-26 in St Paul and Chicago.  I think I got 9 new songs.  Majority were from Gigaton.  Nothing as it Seems was a nice surprise at STP2.  So was Purple Rain that same night.  I had almost forgotten about the PJ StatTracker app.  Great app!

During Hard To Imagine at that show, a cop came to our aisle asking if I saw who threw up on the aisle in front of us.  I said "I didn't see anything."  He asked something else and I said "Dude, I didn't see anything, you are ruining the show" and he finally left.
