Why even shoot on 16mm if you just gonna uprez it when the 16mm can actually shine?

Why are you not going back to the film elements and scan them in, making SVT look as great as it can?
And instead going for a uncannyvalley digital sharpened uprez?

Does the elements or a master on film not exist? Doesn't Mark Pellington have access to them/it? 

Tenclub please. Put in the effort if possible. Let us see the grain like it was intended.

    As a 4:3 guy living in a 16:9 world, the word "uprezzed" makes me cringe.

    Probably the cost.   Maybe it was edited on tape, so they'd have to find the film reels and reedit to make a scan of the film.   I agree a 16mm sourced HD version would look amazing.  There's a live Nirvana bluray sourced from 16mm and while a bit grainy, looks amazing :)

    A lot of the original master tapes and film might be gone.  Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember something from a while back about some masters being gone.  It might have been when the No Code reissue came out and Who You Are had the avalanche line in it.

    Every time I get groceries, I'll ask the cashier if they've seen Single Video Theory, the only response I ever get is, "no, not enough film elements."...every time.

    Well, some people would be fine with them putting out mp3s on vinyl instead of using the album master. Maybe you... eh... wait... "the cashier" doesn't care about that.
